We enjoyed a window table. Beautiful scenery. The food was amazing and they were so accommodating with substitutions. It made a great date night.

We had dinner last night (Friday night) and had a great time. The waitress was very attentive and had fun with our outgoing group. Old fashions were amazing as well. We learned this summer a new cook took over the kitchen and the food was great. We had the prime rib and whitefish. Everyone at the table was thrilled with dinner! If you are in the Bayfield area please give this place a try!

Great view. Poor service. $35 medium rare ribeye came out mooing. At prices this high I expect waaay better performance. Would not recommend.

I had the ribeye steak, tasted rancid. Worst steak I've ever had. Paid not to eat it.

What a beautiful relaxing afternoon dinner on the deck. Consistent quality foot. Fabulous service.

I had dinner at my favorite restaurant last evening with friends...Portside Bar and Restaurant. If you love Lake Superior, the view from the dining room and deck is one of the most incredible in northern WI. We all had a wonderful meal with excellent service on the deck. If you haven't checked it out yet this year, you should. You will not be disappointed. 💙 👨‍🍳⛵️🚤🌊⚓️☀️

We have been to the Portside restaurant many times.
The view of all the sailboats and lake superior is a big draw. The food is always good.
On our most recent visit I had the prime rib and a bowl of chicken wild rice with a couple nice beers.
We were disappointed that there were no whitefish livers even though they're on the menu. This has happened before. They must be more rare than you'd expect.
The wait staff was new and inexperienced but wanted so much to be helpful.
For example, our meal made it out to the table before our drinks with no explanation.
I think that's important.
Overall, we will keep going to this lovely restaurant.

We reserved a table for two. When we arrived we had to wait 10 minuties before a host finally came. When we sat down it took another 10 minutes to get waters and another 15 minutes just to get drinks. We got our food and there was hair in the rice and the cordon blue tasted like it came out of the microwave? the food portions are in half and the food was bland. The drinks were the only good part of our dinner.

Restaurant hours said they were open until 9. We showed up at 7 and they said they were closed. Place was full of patrons eating dinner. Wait staff said the cook was the manager and that he was too busy to cook anymore, so they closed, two hours prior to their stated closing time! You cannot run a restaurant like this and expect to stay in business.

If there was a zero stars option, that would be our selection. On the advice of another reviewer, and given it was a Saturday night in Bayfield, we called the restaurant early afternoon to make a reservation. The voicemail there provided another number to call for reservations, which we called, spoke with someone directly and made a reservation for our family of four that evening. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation time and waited at the hostess stand for someone to seat us. While waiting, we noticed two larger tables and several small tables, two of which were being served their food while we waited. A handful of folks were at the bar and we could see into the kitchen that food was being plated. After several minutes of waiting and making eye contact with any staff that were in the vicinity, the bartender informed us that they were closed and no longer serving. We informed her that we had a reservation and shared the name of who we made our reservation with. Apparently our reservation info was not communicated to the staff at the restaurant and as such they refused to serve us. The bartender, while apologetic, did nothing to offset what was an egregious error by their staff. It was quite infuriating to watch food being plated and drinks being served and being told the kitchen was closed; this was especially frustrating given we were a party of four, two of whom were children. My husband contacted the owner directly, who also apologized but did nothing else. We get up to Bayfield once a year at best and our Saturday evening dinner is a big part of our experience, so to say this was disappointing is a gross understatement (not to mention leaving us with the challenge of finding something to feed our family at 8:00 on a Saturday). Portside did accomplish one thing with this absolutely horrific experience and set a new benchmark for any future dining endeavors for our family, as we have never had an experience as terrible as this one.

My husband and I had dinner here after a long day of hiking and driving. We popped in early to make a reservation before going to clean up at our B&B. We were seated right away (as requested by a window) when we returned. Took awhile to get drinks and food. Food, prime rib night, was excellent and prepared very well. Our waitress was personable. We ate inside and it was kind of loud. Might have enjoyed a more quiet atmosphere, but overall, we enjoyed our night.

We were seated on time. The staff was friendly and helpful. Both the food and atmosphere were great.

After our Apostles island cruise we decided to have dinner here. We ate on the outdoor deck overlooking the bay. The fish tacos were good and so was the fish and chip plate. The service was extremely quick.
