The food is fairly priced and large portions, service was delivered with a smile, small town cafe feel and the locals seem to really enjoy this restaurant. The Viking Cafe is our favorite breakfast place when we go camping at Yellowstone Lake State Park.

I stopped in with a colleague for lunch. Pleasant and friendly atmosphere. The salad bar is outstanding, lots of fresh ingredients and homemade pasta salad, pea salad and others. And my absolute favorite, homemade blue cheese dressing. Excellent. Lasagna special was tasty and outstanding; served with garlic bread. Definitely a must stop for any hungry tummy in Lafayette County!!

Mikayla was awesome this morning. Only server that showed up and she rocked the situation. I’ve not seen as hard of a worker there as we saw today. Oh food was good too. Way to go Mikayla, you’ll do great things in life if you keep this work ethic! Well done!

The Viking cafe is great. It is as far from a cheap franchise as you can get. I was hunting south of blanchardville and came across this gem after a long cold morning and it was exactly what I needed. The environment was upbeat, clean and staff definitely added to the charm. Plenty of seating at the counter but we were exhausted so opted for a booth. The service is great. Quick and attentive. I had the special and a cup of home made chicken noodle soup with hot tea. My friend got the biscuits and gravy w coffee. All the dishes were prepared perfectly. Biscuits were fluffy and gravy was ?. The pulled pork not over sauced and tender. Mac and cheese was moist and cheesy with some added spice. If you’re in the area give the Viking a shot. I took a chance and am glad I did verses going to a kwik trip and getting less and paying the same.

Our initial impression was good. However, as return customers who regularly order from here with 5-10 people in our crew at any given time, we are taking our business elsewhere. The last half dozen times we've ordered have been terrible. We tried to believe maybe someone was just having a bad day each time, but that's clearly not the case. The owner is an arrogant jerk who feels it's an inconvenience to place a to-go order, especially if you ask for lettuce and tomato on the side of a cheeseburger. He says rude and inappropriate things very loudly that customers can hear. If to-go orders are "killing you" like you said, then perhaps you don't know what you're doing. ?‍♀️ The only good thing is that at least he (usually) knows how to cook. The females that cook are horrendous so the quality will differ depending on who cooks. Do better Viking Cafe owner, maybe take an anger management class, a business class, and treat your customers like you'd want them to return. P.S. Crispy hashbrowns are not white and barely cooked. ?
