The Viking cafe is great. It is as far from a cheap franchise as you can get. I was hunting south of blanchardville and came across this gem after a long cold morning and it was exactly what I needed. The environment was upbeat, clean and staff definitely added to the charm. Plenty of seating at the counter but we were exhausted so opted for a booth. The service is great. Quick and attentive. I had the special and a cup of home made chicken noodle soup with hot tea. My friend got the biscuits and gravy w coffee. All the dishes were prepared perfectly. Biscuits were fluffy and gravy was ?. The pulled pork not over sauced and tender. Mac and cheese was moist and cheesy with some added spice. If you’re in the area give the Viking a shot. I took a chance and am glad I did verses going to a kwik trip and getting less and paying the same.

Our initial impression was good. However, as return customers who regularly order from here with 5-10 people in our crew at any given time, we are taking our business elsewhere. The last half dozen times we've ordered have been terrible. We tried to believe maybe someone was just having a bad day each time, but that's clearly not the case. The owner is an arrogant jerk who feels it's an inconvenience to place a to-go order, especially if you ask for lettuce and tomato on the side of a cheeseburger. He says rude and inappropriate things very loudly that customers can hear. If to-go orders are "killing you" like you said, then perhaps you don't know what you're doing. ?♀️ The only good thing is that at least he (usually) knows how to cook. The females that cook are horrendous so the quality will differ depending on who cooks. Do better Viking Cafe owner, maybe take an anger management class, a business class, and treat your customers like you'd want them to return. P.S. Crispy hashbrowns are not white and barely cooked. ?

Viking Cafe makes simple good food for super reasonable prices. Service was quick and friendly.We had the fish sandwich with potato salad today for lunch…both were good. The potato salad was rich and creamy and made me think of summer…I wonder why potato salad makes me think of summerIt ain’t fancy, but it’s a good place at a good price!

We stopped by on a whim and were so impressed. I had my 3 kids and the waitress was extremely patient and kind, even when they changed their minds on what they wanted once food came out and brought more for them. The service was quick and the prices so reasonable. Highly recommend for a quick morning breakfast!

I recently stayed with friends outside of Blanchardville for a couple of days. Although we brought in a lot of our own food, we decided to go into town for breakfast one day. Wow, what a great little gem the Viking Cafe is! We enjoyed delicious food, had a wonderful conversation with the party at the table next to ours and thoroughly enjoyed the owner, who served us. This is just the kind of diner I look for when I'm in small town Wisconsin! You can bet we'll be back!
