We have been huge fans of this coffee shop since they opened. Their proprietors are the best - SUPER friendly, always listening to their customers, going out of their way to delight us. Breakfast waffles, crepes, sandwiches, and pastries are to die for, soups, the fish boils -WoW! Now they are selling the beans online. (So exciting) Ben is an awesome roaster - he is a professionally trained in the best methods of roasting - and the coffee proves it. We are so hooked. Cannot

When we lived on the east side of Madison, this was our favorite place to go and get breakfast. We also love all the local art the is on display. Delicious waffles and sandwiches.

SchoolGrounds has been my saving grace for the last two years, super kind owners and workers who have a connection like family. Quick and caring. Amazing food and such a great, and necessary addition to Cottage Grove. Thanks!

The best thing about SchoolGrounds is the wonderful people on the staff. And the coffee. And the food. And....

A rare gem of a coffee shop. This place quite literally has it all. The service is top notch. They go out of there way to talk to you and genuinely show interest in you. The coffee, fantastic. Best I’ve had in Madison area since moving to the area 4 years ago. The food, terrific. I’ve had their scones and breakfast sandwiches and both had me wanting more. Lastly, the vibe here is truly wonderful. Feels like you’re stepping into a museum but where you get to hang out and drink lattes. They also have outdoor eating and life concerts in the warmer months. Go out of your way to come here. Make a date out of it. Whatever it takes. You won’t be disappointed!

The owners and staff are great people. This is a family owned an operated local business. Their food and coffee are great and you feel like you are a part of their family.

This place was amazing. And that is an understatement. The food was spectacular, but even better than that was the people. David, Peyton, and the mother who name I forget (my apologies) were so friendly and inviting that I am already planning my next trip. The coffee was superb and the eagles were perfect. David came by or tablet and chatted with us. Will be back as soon as possible.

The espresso is good! It really smooth; not burnt. The service is fantastic and baristas are friendly and fast. DEFINITELY buy a scone while you're here! They are all well made, but I'd skip the pumpkin one. I couldn't taste any pumpkin in it. My son, who never likes anything to drink but water and Gatorade, really enjoyed their chai tea with a flavor shot of vanilla and their ginger snap cookie.

The carrot cake is crazy, spectacular, amazingly delicious. David and his staff are the absolutely most personable, genuine, caring people I have ever met in a “coffee shop”. You’ll NEVER regret visiting, but you will regret not stopping in and being refreshed by the peaceful, joy-filled environment. Side note: if you haven’t sat with David to pick his brain, you’re missing an opportunity of a lifetime. I’ve met this man three times and each time I was exponentially encouraged and lifted. I dare you to check this place out.
