The food was great, I really enjoyed the cheesecurds. It was slightly understaffed when I went, but the service was great and very friendly. They did well with what they had. I ordered a byo burger, and it was very good as well.

Good place to grab drinks, some food, and catch a few games. College campus area so that definitely plays into the vibe of this spot. I tried the chicken strips and cheese curds (pictured); my partner had the Nashville burger and tots (not pictured). Typical tavern food but that's what we came in for so we were not disappointed.

We had plans to check out the Abbey for dinner, because we were staying at the hotel next door. But I read some of the reviews for this place and to be honest we became apprehensive. We thought we are here, why not check it out anyways.
First, if you were looking for a 5 star restaurant on a beer budget to satisfy you and want to review it as such, this is not your place. This is your nostalgic type tavern that serves food. TVs and pictures surround you. The tables reflecting the use of the good old days before franchised sports bars dotted the landscape. This is a great place to have an experience and enjoy the company of the person or people you are with. The folks serving us were nice, the food and the beer was good. My spouse had chicken wings and I had a burger and fries. We received what we expected. It wasn't less than what we expected. I don't think this place advertises itself to put your expectations on the moon.
We are both excellent cooks and we could probably make complaints about something anywhere we go across a huge range of ethnic/variety food types. But we both thought we could not really rate this place because it's unique and it is what it says it is. Contrary to some of the bad reviews, these are the kind places we are surprised by and enjoy running across. We like taking notice of the people and seeing the neat things about it, instead of seeing the things we can run down. There are not a lot of places like this type still around. They are becoming a part of history. I love the name of the place, the simple tavern food menu, and I believe it's second generation family owned. I am glad I was able to share this experience with my spouse. They don't promise you magic and there is no magic out there anyways.
Probably an odd long review but wanted to take the time to let the owner know we appreciated the experience. I am sure keeping a place like this going in this day and age is not easy and it is good to encourage one another when it's due. Thank you!
P.S. if you are wondering if you should check this place out we did too, but we were happy we did.
Love the $3 feature beer special. Me & my wife feel welcomed here. Big thanks to the owner Kerry!

I usually never write poor reviews but this definitely missed the mark. When we arrived the restaurant was not busy, our server made eye contact and acknowledged our presence but did not seat us. I felt we were not welcome. After seating ourselves our server took our drink order, my partner ordered a summer shandy which when arrived tasted foul. Our fish fry over done and overly greasy. I had to ask for silverware after waiting a significant amount of time. Our server didn’t seem to have any intention of providing quality service and gave the impression that it didn’t matter if we were unsatisfied. This is unfortunate, I was excited to experience this establishment.

I don't usually leave reviews on places but I had to this time. My experience here was just horrible.
Nothing from my experience tonight makes me want to come back again. I ordered a Guinness and the lady working had obviously never poured a tap before. Half my glass was head. Someone should probably show her how to properly pour a glass. I also ordered the meatloaf with mash potatoes and a salad with ranch. The food came out on a plastic plate with plastic silverware. Who uses plastic silverware at a damn bar and grill???? I thought it odd since other people had glass plates and bowls and actual metal silverware. On top of that, the meatloaf was cold in the middle and there were black marks on one side, like someone tried to reheat it on the griddle. Also, the gravy was cold and congealed. Mashed potatoes were luke warm. Oh, remember that salad that came with my meal?? Yeah....never even got that. To top it all off, it took over 40 mins to get my meal. I could not get out of there fast enough. This place is horrible.

Does a nice job of combining the college bar atmosphere with a neighborhood vibe. Lots of taps.

I always came here when I went to SNC. Now that I'm older and have kids, I still come here, earlier hours though. The burgers are still great and the vibe is still fun.
