Definitely glad we saw this restaurant on Google maps when we were trying to find somewhere to eat while passing through the area. Their menu has a little bit of something for everyone. We had 9 people including kids and no one had complaints. Our waitress was leaving just before we were ready to leave. She came to let us know she was leaving but there was no rush. She even brought her mom over to introduce her as our next server. Everyone was so sweet. The food was delicious. Will definitely return if in the area and will recommend to our Madison friends.

Ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast, had some weird meat chunks in the gravy, couldn't identify what it was and it was chewy and hard to process. Initially thought it was sausage in traditional sausage gravy, but it was not. The chicken fried steak was what seemed to be a pre breaded food service type of steak, not impressed, eggs and hash browns were ok, service was decent but on the slower side. With the options available around Madison I'd probably not opt to drive back out there, but if I were local id probably try to find something they are more specialized in when going back. At best it was mid to lower level cafe food, I picked the weird meat chunks out and ate the main entree and didn't leave hungry. The should probably fly up some southern gal to teach them how to make a proper sausage gravy though. One to ten scale I would give it a 5. For $20 bucks I expect a hand breaded steak not food service pre breaded.

Something is up with my blood pressure and I passed out at the table. I'm fine, need to tweak my meds. The owner was immediately on the phone, getting me help and wanted to know if I was ok. Good food and a community that cares, that's the DeForest Family Restaurant.

Our server was nice, that was the only plus to the whole experience, the fried pickles were cold and chewy, it took us over an hour from being sat to receive our food and around 20 min before we even got to order, this place used to be my go to spot on Sundays for breakfast not anymore.

Their Crabcake Eggs Benedict is delicious and I love their food. All these Krabby Karens and their bad reviews! I've been going there forever and I love their food and I love the service.
Loved the food and environment. A bit on the pricey side though.

I drive by everyday on my way to work and decided to stop in for breakfast. There were 2 other tables occupied when we were seated. We waited almost 30 minutes for our food. My eggs were cooked over hard, not the way I ordered them. My toast was also burnt. I handed the toast back and said you can take this back as it was burnt. The server never came back with new toast, only refilled my coffee once, screwed up the bill and never rectified anything. I paid $40 for 2 breakfast meals. Absolutely ridiculous. No one in charge stopped by and nothing was offered nor taken off the bill. I will never return and I'm happy to tell everyone I know to skip this establishment.

Ordered the ribeye steak and egg breakfast. Medium with medium eggs and extra crispy hashbrowns. Received a cold ribeye that was well done on one side and rare on the other with over easy eggs and soggy hash browns. Mentioned it to the nice waitress Marla right away. The owner came over shortly after ANGRY AT ME berating me. He said if I just wanted a free meal then I shouldn't have ordered. I DIDNT EAT THE MEAL! I was waiting for the waitress to come back so I could tip her and he came over and yelled at me and told me to leave and that he "didnt need any more of my drama". I was nothing but polite and nice about receiving an absolutely horrible meal. I will never return and I dont think you should give someone like that your hard earned money. Absolutely disrespectful and inappropriate.

The heavyset waitress wearing red plaid leggings was unhelpful as we waited for a coffee refill. She simply stood at the counter while I raised my hand for assistance, yet she just stared at us. I understand if it’s busy, but it wasn't.
