We were just married at Wild Eagle Lodge in early September and held our luncheon at SAGE FINE DINING (formerly The Blue Heron). The staff & service was exceptional, the food amazing, and we couldn't say more about the venue which is classic northwoodsy! We've been back for the marsala and duck which we enjoyed tremendously! Harvest pumpkin cocktails are delish!Highly recommended if you are in the area!

Had dinner last night at The Blue Heron. It is back to its quaint, pretty atmosphere! The food was excellent, service outstanding. There was one slight mishap and they made up for it in a professional and extremely friendly manner. Would definitely return!Hor deuvers and salad were delicious.

Enjoyed a delicious perch fish fry and the broiled flounder in butter sauce. The seasoned Wisconsin Cheese curds were a shared dish and a hit with everyone. Service was efficient, friendly; and included live entertainment. The restaurant has had a make-over since my last visit; ambiance is warmer, and the black tablecloths are a welcome change from the previous bare tables.

Just wanted to give a great review for our visits to the Blue Heron Restaurant recently .While staying at Wild Eagle Lodge on the same property we had dinner there twice and both times were delicious. We had a wrap and Rueben with Truffle fries the first visit and fish dinners the second visit. We also had a couple fun and creative cocktails. Try the Bloody Mary!Everything was top notch and the portions were very large. The complimentary bread and homemade cheese spread was a nice touch too.The service, atmosphere, and personal visit to our table from the owner were all exceptional . Very fun conversations with all. ( Hence the 2nd visit)You will definitely be happy and satisfied with everything when you make a visit there. Looking forward to another visit.

What happened to this place? I hadn’t been here in awhile and used to love it. This used to be one of the best places in town to eat. Now it’s just sad. Empty, but took 40 minutes to get served. The chicken Alfredo was so bland it was like milk on pasta with plain chicken, the “chicken bites” appetizer was an over cooked chicken breast with franks red sauce on it. The pretzel i was expecting a warm pretzel with hot cheese dip… it was hard pretzels with cold beer dip, the kind you bring to a bbq. Are you kidding? Bring back the old menu or cook!

Everything was completely phenomenal. I did learn tonight that I do not love escargo.... lol... But that certainly was not the restaurant's fault! The parsnip mashed potatoes are to die for. Also they really know how to cook asparagus.

Awesome food, service and Bloody Mary. Traveling for work and this place is a must visit for dinner. Had the coffee crusted ribeye. Great flavor and tender. Best steak I've had in a long time.

Ordered takeout for dinner on a Saturday. Took longer than we were told to get our food but that’s to be expected on a weekend. Husband got a burger and fries, I got perch and fries, and we also had cheese curds. All the food was soggy and lukewarm upon opening containers, although everything tasted decent. Toward the end of our meal, my husband took a bite of burger and ended up pulling a wadded piece of plastic out of his mouth. He unraveled it and we were incredibly worried, wondering if there had been anything inside the “baggie.” I called the restaurant and spoke to Rene who was lovely. She apologized and offered to make us something new, which we declined. She said she would make sure to check the beef right away and also offered a gift certificate, which we also declined. It’s entirely possibly it was an off night, but the plastic in the food definitely ruined our experience and, unfortunately, we won’t be back.

Not a good experience at all. Was in Eagle River for the weekend, stayed at the Wild Eagle Lodge and thought to try Blue Heron being onsite of our lodge. Outside of the long wait times for drinks & food understanding the sign warned you as you walk in that it was going to be longer wait times. So, outside of that it was a very loud atmosphere (live music playing) fun for some Im sure, but thought kind of loud during earlier dinner hours, prime rib was super salty as well as potatoes, asparagus overcooked, mushrooms were almost dried mushrooms I think. Crispy to a point and cheesecake super soggy. The table we sat at must have been on plank boards as everytime the server or manager/owner guy raced through trying to bus tables, our entire table earthquake shook to where I had to hold my wine so it wouldn't spill. Got to the point where all we could do was laugh about it, but overall for the price, not a good experience and would not recommend. Sorry!

We waited about 30 minutes before someone acknowledged that we were waiting, and the restaurant wasn't near full. We had reservations and did arrive on time. My husband ordered the crab special on Valentine's Day, which came out cold, and most of the crab legs did not have crab meat in them. This meal was around $60. I ordered the steak special and everything on my plate was cold except the steak. This meal was around $50. To top it off, my husband ended up being sick most of the night and into the morning. The owner was very nice but it is not worth the prices or quality.

It took 20 min for a waitress to even greet us. My husband ordered the crab special for Valentine's Day. The meal was around $50 or $60, and it came out cold, with many of the legs not having crab in them at all. I ordered the steak special and everything but the steak on my plate was also cold. He ended up getting food poisoning and was sick the entire night and this morning.

Our local Chamber of Commerce offers what they call Chamber Bucks. This is a check that can be used at any of the local businesses that are chamber members. After receiving some Chamber Bucks as a Christmas bonus from my employer, we came here to try some food that we had heard good things about. Chamber Bucks are good for one year from the date on the check and this was dated less 45 days prior to our visit. As chamber members not only did the staff have no idea what the Chamber Bucks were, but when the server took our payment (which about 75% was paid in cash) and we got up to leave we were stopped and virtually accused of trying to pass a bad check because "It is dated for last year". When I pointed out that it was from December and that it was good for a year I was told that "I can read the date", and again that it was "dated last year". I don't know who the woman that stopped us was, owner, manager or what, but I think she finally understood that the check was only a month old. One would think that if you are a business that accepts a certain form of payment provided by your Chamber of Commerce of which you are a member, that you would educate your staff about this instead of harassing your customers. We have no desire to return.

Weird dining experience. Our super friendly waitress SCREAMED everything at me (aged 70ish) as if she assumed that I am deaf.Nasty bruschetta amuse buche offered with our cocktails. I received a second cocktail that I didn't order. Wrong check presented.Stale muffins ("A Gift"!)Appetizer (seared tuna) served after salads. Mediocre forgettable entrees- overly salted Prime Rib, wrong side served ("no extra charge!"),Seafood pasta dish (unopened clams), Chicken dish. All lukewarm, all overly sauced, all disappointing. . . But memorable!
