Started with the Longbranch old fashioned - Excellent. Then the duck wontons - amazing. Beef barley soup with a capital BEEF - Sizable, plentiful chunks of tender goodness - very tasty. Entree was breaded parmesan walleye (special) which I ordered with onion rings. You don't see onion rings everywhere up nort', and they were a nice departure from fries. The walleye was fantastic - one large fillet and I barely made it halfway through. I stole a few spoons of my sister's baked French onion soup which was perfection (and not overly salty as many are), along with a few bites of her Wienerschnitzel a'la holstein (with a fried egg) which was a plate-dwarfing cutlet that was delicious and the spatzle was right on. The only problem is that we didn't bring big enough appetites (for me, that's saying something). I ate until I was full, then I kept picking until I was ashamed, then I was ashamed that I could only eat what I did. You might anticipate a nice lunch the next day from the generous portions. Toni (sp?) was a great server and the ambience was pure Northwoods supper club (minus various fish & deer mounts if I recall). Plenty of wood - everything almost unusually clean (I couldn't help but even notice the shine on the sprinkler escutcheons on the ceiling) and in great condition. Modern fixtures and solid construction in the room you'll probably visit once or twice, past the well-lit bar area. Quickly added to our "it's tradition" list when up in Vilas County.
Our waitress was great. Very knowledgeable and a wonderful person. The restaurant is spotless and would recommend you to everyone. Thank you.
Excellent dinner! The crab stuffed mushrooms were fantastic as well as the two entrees and the free anniversary cheese cake! Tipsy peach was the flavor! Hope to be back!! Keep up the good work and thanks for the wonderful hospitality!!
Only complaint was the attitude of the male bartender who argued with us about how we like our cocktails fixed
Last night I had the Walleye. It was perfectly cooked and delicious. The portion was too generous for me to finish. My husband had the tuna, also superb. The restaurant was busy but not loud at all. We both enjoyed our meals, the excellent service, and the lovely atmosphere immensely.
The schnitzel here is completely unrivaled. Coming from someone who lived in Germany, this is one of the best schnitzels you’ll find outside of Austria or Germany. I would rate their schnitzel higher than places like The Berghoff in Chicago or Mader’s in Milwaukee. The restaurant was also notably clean — everyone at our table was astonished by how spotless the place was. Might be a bit pricey but it’s well worth it for a special occasion.. 10/10 would recommend. (Quick PSA: coming from a tourist turned resident, please cut the restaurants up here some slack regarding wait times and such. Businesses are frequently understaffed and it’s not their fault. Thank you!)
The service was very good, food was excellent, friendly bartenders. Drink prices reasonable. Overall it was a great experience . Will definitely go back.
Just an excellent meal and experience. You must try this place. Best in the whole county. Thank you

The food was amazing from start to finish. Their oysters Rockefeller were on point as was the authentic Wiener schnitzel. The soup of the day was Egg Drop which was unexpected but probably the best egg drop soup ever made!!! A fantastic experience and our waiter Shaun did a great job.
William's Pine Gables is definitely worth a visit if you are in the Northwoods. One of the few remaining super clubs. The food, drinks, and service are outstanding. The menu is diverse and everyone is sure to find something they like. Don't be afraid to try items like the seared Ahi Tuna, it's amazing!
We were excited to finally match our schedule with this restaurant! We were greeted by manager Shawn, who was super friendly. We sat at the gorgeous bar and loved the delicious Long Branch Old Fashioned and The Gable. We appreciated that the tv screens are placed high and not all of them were sports. That and the beautiful wood interior gives it a classier feel than other places. My husband ordered Deb and Lon's Rouladen. It was excellent. I had one of that night's specials, a Cubano. The ham and pickle was embedded into a succulent pork tenderloin. It was moist and delicious. The veggie combo was an excellent side. We ended up sharing a fabulous peach cobbler. Our server, Shaun, was efficient, polite, and friendly. We had a really great night and we will return with friends and family.
We have been there twice. Both times the service was excellent and the food was fabulous. We will definitely return.
Dined with wife and 2 couples here on 2/15/2025. Drinks and food were nothing short of dynamite. I had a Jameson old fashioned before we moved to our table. All of our meals were spot on - I had Wienerschnitzel and some awesome spaetzle. Did not disappoint. Only knocks were the lengthy wait time from ordering to meal arriving and my main course that I ordered ala Holstein, which showed up minus the Holstein (egg). Will be back.
