My bride and I stopped in for steak & lobster tonight. It was fantastic and we will definitely be returning. Though I have driven by 100s of times, this was my first time dining here. I read some of the negative reviews but we certainly didn't have any issues. Thanks for the great meals!
Unbelievable meal!

Today was a day of ever changing plans. It's restaurant week in Minneapolis so at one point was thinking of joining some friends at a Brazilian steakhouse but instead decided that I prefer the vibes of a Wisconsin supper club so decided on Shady Grove Restaurant, WI in Ellsworth. It's been on my bucket list lately. I drove by a few times recently when I visited the Cheese Curd Festival they have there. It's also in the Wisconsin Supper Clubs 3rd book or 2nd edition of 1st book and was able to get signed. Additionally a few weeks ago I met John See at a neighborhood bar and grill in Minneapolis. He said he lives in Hudson but just got a job in Minneapolis. I explained my love of Wisconsin supper clubs where he said he's been to 2 and interested in more. So tonight we decided a new one and we both loved it. Both of us didn't eat much all day but were starving when we arrived. I started off with a peach martini and John a lemon drop. After exchanging pleasantries with each other and 'pretty' bartender Morgan and Co owner Bridget we ordered calamari with slaw as an appetizer. We were so hungry no picture sorry. Shortly after we were escorted to our table. Our waitress was Sam or sometimes called Sara by some regulars. We ordered right away. John wanted surf and turf medium rare with lobster and I as normal had lots of questions on the menu decided on the champagne chicken. Also ordered was French onion soup, bacon corn chowder, sides of au gratin potatoes and fetucini Alfredo. I also ordered a makers old fashioned. As we had bread that was brought to us Bridget also provided a complimentary appetizer of cheese curds. Maybe it was because of the cone 🤷♂️. These cheese curds were made with local rush river beer batter and so light and so delicious. Bridget said they were the best and she was right. We also saw other patrons get onion rings and they looked big and delicious too! Lots of farm to table as can be seen by pictures of their garden in back. One of their features is bison which they sometimes make into filets, ribeyes, or new york strip. Unfortunately they just ran out but fortunately I live close enough I can come back to try another time. I did run into another couple from Menomonie who had the prime rib which they both liked. After dinner I had the creme brulee and John had rhubarb pie with ice cream. Before we left we got a picture with co owners Bridget and Shane who is also the brilliant chef along with "pretty" Morgan. It was so great to talk to Shane at the end of the night. The whole staff were so nice and down ro earth. Can't wait to come back.
A true Wisconsin supper club. It is such a treat to go there.

Super cool little supper club out in the country. My girlfriend and I happened to be driving past right when they opened and there were people standing in line outside. We sat at the bar because we didn't have a reservation but they offered us a table. I ordered filet mignon and every bite was delicious. The tap/well water there IS DELICIOUS!! The service was great. It was fun sitting at the bar with my gf even though we don't drink, we got to watch all the action in this tiny super club. The music they played was rather romantic yacht rock, which I love. The manager told me they don't advertise, and they don't need to. They are busy without it!! The cherry rhubarb meringue crusted dessert (pictured) was pretty good but very sweet. The club was very dark inside, which I liked. The staff all seemed great! I'd love to go back and do it all again with my boyfriend.

You messaged me on why I gave you a not top score. I ordered a 10 oz prime rib RAREI GOT A RIB EYE STEAK MEDIUM WELL. I told my waitress that it world be OK if it was rare. It was not so she took it back to the kitchen. 10 min later I got my 10 on prime medium wellIt was very good however I do not like well done meat. I personally think it is tough. That is why you got a lower score. I thinkbyour cooks need to take a refresher on how meat should feel when it is rare.
Great food we will be back

Was our first experience at Shady Grove and they knocked it out of the park. Traditional Wisconsin supper club from the Old Fashioneds to the steaks and prime rib. This will definitely be on our list go to’s!! Thank you for a great evening.

Its not too often that we get a night to go out for dinner just the two of us. We made a great choice and went to the Shady Grove. We enjoyed great service and amazing food. We started with side salads with homemade dressing and pickled beets that were delicious! The dinner rolls were hot and tasty, and our diet cokes never got close to being empty! I enjoyed the prime rib with homemade horse radish sauce and au gratin potatoes. She enjoyed the broiled walleye and hashbrowns. Our first trip down was a huge success, and definitely won't be our last! It was too cold today, but there is also outdoor seating when the weather cooperates!

Dining for my husband and I is about the experience, feeling welcome, the food and overall atmosphere. Last night was the total package. Beginning at the bar with a fun, friendly and informative bartender who makes a mean Manhattan. (also some interesting draft beers available). We were seated at our reservation time. Began with calamari served on an Asian Slaw. Fresh warm rolls with butter. Both opted for salad with Blue Cheese. Entrees: Chicken Marsala and Seafood Cannelloni (the special) Both dinners were spot on. Finished with a Lemon Marscapone cake with strawberries, to go. Everything exceeded our expectations. Looking forward to our next visit.
Absolutely amazing food! My boyfriend had the prime rib and he said it’s by far the best prime rib within a 50 mile radius! I had the filet mignon and it was so delicious. Our server was great and the owner even came over to speak with us which we thought was very nice! Definitely our new favorite place to eat which is hard to find these days!
