We were looking for a soup dumpling restaurant in the Milwaukee area and found the “Dumpling House” via THE Google.
When we entered the establishment we were greeted by very disturbing EDM (Electronic Dance Music) which is very similar to Techno Music playing loudly in the dining room. We both enjoy most types of music and we were hoping that it was just a track or two, but were very disappointed that the music never changed from that genre. Ok so they play loud and obnoxious music, but we were hoping for a decent soup dumpling.
Our server spent most of his time behind the bar looking at his phone. Because of this, the service was slow. He never checked in on us once our food arrived and never filled our water glasses.
Now for the food. We ordered an order of pork soup dumpling and an order of fried beef dumplings. It was sub-par. The soup dumplings did not have any soup in them. Ok, there was a teaspoon of soup in one of the dumplings out of 8. When we opened the fried dumplings up they were not fried. They looked and tasted like the pork soup dumplings. There was also an odd taste to the meat in both of the dumplings.
We do NOT recommend this restaurant.
I believe they have recently changed their name to dumpling house. Or maybe they have recently changed from dumpling house to Yamato sushi house. I’m not sure which. Their sign out front says dumpling house and their menu still says Yamato sushi house. Identity crisis, no?
We went in thinking this was dumpling house so we ordered dumplings. I was craving some soup, dumplings, and shrimp hao gaos. At around 13 bucks each, they were quite good.
And just because I don’t quite feel full with having just dumplings for dinner, we also ordered their fried rice noodles. The pictures really don’t do justice for this amazing dish. They don’t have fried rice on their menu, but this noodle dish tasted just like fried rice And smelled like it too. Hubby and I were really pleasantly surprised. We added a chicken to the dish, but if coming back, I will stay with just a noodles without adding protein.
Our server who was Chinese, spoke very fast, and I had a hard time understanding everything he was trying to explain. But he was very eager, very nice, and very excited about us trying different foods. As it was Chinese New Year’s week when we went in, he told us to try their special New Year’s soup and that he was really really good. In fact, he was saying this to everyone who came in.
The soup was about $13, but not big like a bowl of pho. It came in the medium size bowl, clear broth, with a bunch of mini dumplings inside. It’s really not something that I would normally order, especially after ordering two orders of dumplings, but I must say the taste was pretty good. Would I have it again? I will have to remember not to get pushed over by the nice enthusiastic server.
Since we didn’t know, this was a sushi place going in. I had no sushi and don’t necessarily think I will. I hope they figure out their identity and stick to one thing. So far, I am happy with their dumplings and their fried rice noodle.

Under new ownership and a new restaurant name. Ordered Sukiyaki but was served a bowl of udon noodles with a bland, flavorless broth. Highly disappointed.
The food is very good and definitely going back.

I visted Yamato a little while ago when visiting the area. I loved the service, the music, the atmosphere, as well as the all you can eat sushi shared with friends. I was hoping for a welcoming atmopshere like I had in the past but today was not an experience I want to relive. Yamato's website, reviews, and Google search state "all you can eat". Please BEWARE, this restaurant does not offer this anymore, nor did they update any of their information. The sushi was alright but the service was not. When I politely asked about the all you can eat that I had before and that their online presence still states the waitress was very short and stated that Sundays there was no lunch option, nor all you can eat (no longer serving all you can eat). Very dissapointed with my visit. I will not be returning.

My heart is broke.
Stomach no longer filled.
No longer an all you can eat option
I recently dined at Yamato Sushi House, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The food was simply outstanding. The chicken fried rice was perfectly seasoned, with tender pieces of chicken and a delightful mix of vegetables. The pork buns were equally impressive, with a soft, fluffy exterior and a flavorful filling that melted in my mouth.
The restaurant itself was impeccably clean, and the decor was beautiful, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. It’s clear that a lot of thought and care has gone into making this place a joy to visit.
Our waitress was incredibly friendly and helpful, ensuring that our dining experience was enjoyable and smooth. Her attentive service added a personal touch that made our visit even more special.
I highly recommend Yamato Sushi House for anyone looking for delicious food, a pleasant ambiance, and excellent service.

Price was reasonable. Food and service matched the price. Probably won't return unless I happen to be nearby and hungry.

I'll be honest. It seems the better a restaurant is doing, the more attitude they throw at customers. As awesome as the food is at Dumpling House, the service is getting less friendly. The Wonton soup is absolutely fantastic, but it seemed the server was put out by our just being there. Now, granted, it seemed that two people were running the place on a Saturday night, but that's not the customer's fault. Be a little friendlier, and customers will be a lot more understanding. Again. The food is great, they need help with service.

The food is usually amazing, however, I just ordered sushi for lunch. I ordered the spicy crunchy shrimp and the spicy tuna. They both have a bad fishy taste to them and are WAY more spicy than usual. I'm still rating 3 stars because it usually is amazing.

Was told they no longer do all you can eat sushi; however, sign outside states clearly that they do. Then was told no lunch specials for today with no warnings or signs posted. I don’t have an issue with that because it makes sense, but it was the curtness from the server that made it off putting.
