The drinks are great and the servers are very kind. However, the food is very hit or miss. The fried chicken bowl and the burgers are good, but by all means, do not get a grilled cheese. The "pepper jack" is definitely more white american cheese than anything, and the bread was not grilled at all. There was one spot in the middle that was cooked, but the rest of the sandwich was just untoasted bread. It's easily the worst grilled cheese I've ever had.

Friday night fish fry!
This is why I wait a few weeks before writing a review…a dining experience is not always as bad or as good as it seems
The Walleye fish fry was good; not too much breading, but the sides were in pre-portioned containers. Potato pancakes were fine.
The atmosphere was great. A bit of music and crowd noise but easy to converse at our table of four. The restaurant was not full for a 5:45pm seating (no reservations) but our waitress was not too friendly. She brought us things when we asked but after the first two minute check-in we had to ask for more water, napkins, drinks, and the bill.
They really have an outstanding reputation for burgers, and that is well deserved.
Parking: Limited street parking but about the same no matter where you eat in Downtown Fort Atkinson on the river—The Rock River!

Tavern on Rock is a fantastic spot! It's a nice, new, and clean bar with great food and excellent service. The addition of slots and PBR makes it even better. It's the perfect place to relax, enjoy a meal, and have some fun. Highly recommend checking it out!
The fried pickles were awesome. The pulled pork sliders were good.

The food was ok, we stopped in for a late dinner. I had a salmon wrap, and the iceberg lettuce was old, so taste was off. It definitely would have been tastier if better lettuce was used and the outside of salmon had been blackened. The sauce for it was good, though. My husband had a burger that he enjoyed. The waffle fries were great, and the portabella mushroom appetizer was super yummy. It was quite loud for a Thursday night, but once the larger party left, it was a better atmosphere to dine in. Overall, I would go back, but earlier in the day.
