Waited a really long time for cold beans and cheese enchiladas. Lucky for me, I like bean dip and cheese
Terrible experience at El Sarape on Oneida Street in Green Bay.
I was extremely disappointed with the way the manager (Hector)handled a simple request. We ordered a beer in a glass, but it was served warm and didn’t taste right. When we mentioned this to the server, the beer was taken back, only for the manager to return with a rude and dismissive attitude. He insisted that the beer felt cold to him, refused to exchange it, and said we would be billed for it regardless. When we asked to swap it for a bottle instead, he flat out refused unless we agreed to pay for both the glass and the bottle, even though we couldn’t drink the glass.
For those who look at my previous reviews, you’ll see that I typically leave excellent reviews for great experiences. This is out of the norm for me, but the unprofessionalism and lack of basic customer service here cannot go unmentioned. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone based on this experience alone.

Just ok. Food hit or miss. Lot's of Mexican restaurants in the area, this one is on the lower tier.

Currently on a taco tour and this is #42 on the tour. Everything is rated on a 1-5 scale.
I will start by saying this, we unfortunately will not be going back.
Chips and salsa: Chips were thick and warm but did not have any salt. The salsa was chunky and had a really nice heat to it - 4
Lime Margartia on the Rocks: We ordered The Sarape Margarita which comes in a terracotta mug. The size of the margarita was super small and jammed packed with ice. The margarita was really good, but with the amount of liquid you actually get, I don’t think it’s worth $9 - 4
Steak Taco:

You cannot order just one taco, they only come in two. In both tacos there was two weird large chunks of weird meat (I removed it from the tacos and have in another picture). The meat of the taco was completely flavorless and was extremely disappointing. I only tried half of one taco and was done.
Chori Pollo: This is chicken and chorizo with cheese sauce and served with tortillas. When the dish was served, there was basically zero cheese sauce on the dish and was extremely small. When asked about the cheese sauce and requesting some to be given, a bowl was provided for $4.50. The cheese sauce from the bowl was then slowly added as eaten. The Chori pollo was good, just poorly made and definitely not worth $19.50 - 3
Service: When we were sat at our table it was dirty and I had to wipe the shredded cheese off the table. It was never cleaned or offered to be cleaned. The server was very timid. She was nice but the service was quite slow. When the cheese sauce issue was addressed, it took at least 8 minutes for some to be delivered. Previously working in food service, it seemed that the cheese sauce with the original order had been scraped with whatever remnants they could get, then when the amount was addressed, they needed to get a new batch. I addressed the issues to the server about the weird meat that was in the tacos as well as the chorri pollo which she said she was sorry and delivered the bill - 2

Management: I requested a manager regarding the $4.50 charge of cheese sauce, which is supposed to be included in the actual meal of the Chori pollo. When the manager, Hector, came out, I explained that we frequent the restaurant regularly and the issues with the chorri pollo. The manager immediately pointed out the cheese sauce in the container (which had been added after the bowl was brought out) and said your cheese sauce is right there. I then informed the manager that I had a photograph of what the meal looked like prior to adding cheese sauce to it, which I then showed. The manager then stated he has the same cook who uses the same spoon and nothing was wrong with the food and continually repeated the same thing over and over again. I then showed the odd meat chunks to the manager and discussed having a standard when serving food. The manager continued to argue, but eventually said he would remove the cheese sauce and tacos from the bill - 1

Love this place! My favorite are the chimichangas, but Charal's special is amazing too! I've had such a variety from the menu and have not been disappointed with any of it! Great food, wonderful service, definitely coming back!
Parking: The parking is shared with a couple other businesses - it can be very busy sometimes, but when we went last there was plenty of parking. Coming before or after lunch during off times gives the best parking

I think the best thing about this place is the decor.
I felt that the food and service was average. Also, they have constant reminders of extra charges for "upgrades" and substitutions scattered around the restaurant and menu like land mines. Almost anything you do, or add, to any dish costs a couple of bucks. Even chips and salsa after the first basket are an upcharge...Crazy!
The mole just tasted like enchilada sauce, and they couldn't seem to back up the cost per plate sadly.

Good food. Margarita flight was a little small and unclear what I could order on it-does not include special flavors. Food was killer, service was solid. Great queso!

Today I ordered the combo dish and I told the waiter that I wanted a dish with chicken. When she brought it out with beef I told her that I can't eat it and she went to fix it. When she came back there was still beef in my dish.

Very reasonable pricing ! We had very good service but felt the food was average & similar to many other Mexican eateries . We had guacamole with the chip & salsa which we all liked , we also ordered dinners . The menu is again just like other competitors with sides, dinners and weekly lunch specials. We decided to eat outdoors because it was too loud indoors , patio is nice & clean but the parking lot is the only view.
