Not the greatest food. They had a large table over 20 people which may have affected the service and food quality. Generally lower than expected.
Chris, our server was fantastic. The atmosphere was beautiful. The food was excellent. New Year's Eve is always a busy night for the food service industry. Good employees, like Chris, make the evening all worth while. A special thank you to Chris. She made our New Year a special memory.
We looked forward to dining at this restaurant as the culmination of our annual Family December Weekend. The restaurant had few patrons; therefore, service should not have been a problem. Our waiter was Chris. It took longer than usual for the drink orders to get to our table of seven. When they finally came, one beer selection was not available, Chris suggested another, which was agreeable. We were almost finished with our drinks, and the substitute beer still did not come. One person at our table went to the bar to get it. When Chris came to take our entrée orders, I told her that we had to get the beer from the bar. She apologized and said the bartender misunderstood and did not bring it to us. Since when is it the bartender's job? Chris is our waiter. We were served our entrées and Chris informed one of the diners that they were out of brussels sprouts that he ordered. This person was extremely upset and expressed his dissatisfaction. The lack of brussels sprouts should have been brought to our attention immediately when it was known, not when the plate was served. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our meals; everything was delicious. To compensate for our displeasure, Chris informed me that 25% would be deducted from each entrée
Great food. Great hospitality. Go out of their way to take care of you. Friendly caring people working here.

Spouse and I ate here while staying overnight at the Heidel House. View in daylight was lovely over the water but as the sun set, the restaurant remained fully & brightly lit. We would have preferred dimmer lighting. We had filet and walleye with baked and smashed potatoes. The proteins were delicious but potatoes lacking. The baked potato was reheated and tasted old while the smashed version were cold. The seasonal vegetables were sauteed green beans which were fresh but slightly greasy. Dessert: No mention of gluten free options on the menu via our waitress and absolutely no ice cream (what fine dining restaurant in 2025 doesn't have at very least an ice cream option for the many of us who suffer food sensitivities- esp with ease of storing one or two good ice creams...in the "dairy state?!" ) Our waitress told us she could "maybe get you some bar ice cream?" but didn't make it sound too enticing. This was a somewhat disappointing experience, given the promise of the location overlooking the water and nicely appointed dining room.
Lovely setting. A bit too formal and hotel- like for our comfort. Food was just above average but well presented. Service was great. Table setting was spread out like for a board meeting. Just not the vibe for a warm family gathering.
Pretty great place tbh. It's one of the few places nearby that we can go and get a semi-healthy salad/ veggie heavy sandwich or meal. Everything at nearby pubs are all deep fried and so sweet I can't eat it. But waves had options and I really appreciate that. And you can't beat the view.
The portions were good if not a little small for the price but with the economy now a day, I guess that's the norm. The potato dippers were realllyyyy good! All the cocktails were too sweet to order unfortunately.
I think it's funny how many people couldn't get through the gate to the outside seating area and had to be told to go inside first, that's just silly.

Very good food and the best service also. Our bartender was a sweetheart, very fluid in Spanish and made sure our stay was 5 ⭐️. Food, drinks and service A++++++. We will definitely be back and I highly recommend staying here. Thank you!!!!!
Exceptional dining experience at Oakwood! The food was great with delicious and the service was absolutely top notch - attentive and professional throughout. The ambiance was perfect, and the stunning lake views made for an unforgettable evening. Highly recommend for a special night out!

I think Oakwood restaurant is a well-kept secret. The ambience, food, and quality for the price are exceptional and far exceed the competition in Green Lake. The food is fresh, delicious and well-seasoned. The portions are perfect. The view is gorgeous. It's quiet enough where you can have a nice conversation or take grandma out to dinner without it being overwhelming! Great Job, Heidel House! Don't change a thing!!
We had an enjoyable experience here. It was our first time back since the Heidel House was remodeled, and it's gorgeous! Food and drinks were excellent. Servers were friendly and talkative, which we enjoy. My only suggestion is to offer something complimentary when guests are dining on a special. We were there on my actual birthday and indicated such when booking and told the waitress. We still paid for my dessert.
Waves was a great lunch spot on our last day in Green Lake. The delightful staff had us quickly seated on the patio, ensuring we and our pup were comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals while enjoying the live music. All this against the serene view of Green Lake immediately south of our table made for a quite lovely lunch experience.

If I could put 100 + stars on this review I would. My family and I are eating here on our first Friday here. My mom and I ordered the 4 piece cod plate. And the cod is nice and warm and krispy and not greasy at all. The tarter sauce is definitely homemade along with the potato salad. The coleslaw taste like my great grandmother's recipe. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone.
