If your looking for everything you had 30 years ago here's your place! Good prices for what you get. Fred is always fun to talk to! Not too many places like this around anymore!

A charming ‘days gone by’ vibe in Kiel, Wisconsin, Koehring’s Grand Central House is well worth your time. The menu is varied, the customers are not rushed, and the overall experience is wonderful. If you have not yet dined at Koehring’s, make a reservation and go!

Went to dinner 6/28/25. Had never been here before, so wasn't sure what to do. Like a Supper Club, you wait at the bar and you'll be helped. I will say we waited for a good 5 minutes before anyone approached us. But luckily, Fred was huge smiles and took us to the table and took our drink orders. In total it was a party of 3. There's a salad bar that was quite popular, but no one at my table indulged. It took a few more minutes to get the order in. Ended up going with the King Filet mignon and baked potato. There were 6 other tables not including us, and there was great music and lovely conversation. The inside of this place is oddly fascinating. The decor may look outdated, but honestly it's great to browse everything. Service was a bit slow, so if you want to sit and dine right away, this is not a place for you. When we got the food, it was good. The table ordered 2 steaks and chicken Alfredo pasta. Raves on the pasta, was told it was very good. The steak in my opinion could use more seasoning BUT it was cooked beautifully! I ate every bite! Overall, I enjoyed my meal, even if service was slow- maybe they were short staffed? For me the atmosphere was pleasant, and Fred was quite a joy with his big smile as we left! I would dine again, and if you have time, I'd recommend it.

Amazing salad bar with real greens and lots of options like cottage cheese, dried cherries, pickled beets, peas and sunflower seeds. Two kinds of lettuce to choose from. Enjoyed the salad bar more than my grilled chicken breast. Unique dining experience, lots for the eyes to look at and examine while you wait for your food to come. Proprietor was genuine in his questions about the dining experience. Unique bathroom setup. Overall, it was part of an enjoyable evening.

I swear to you this place is like walking into a diner in 1942 the minute you walk in... you totally forget the world going on outside of here. The gentlemen behind the bar is the owner and he can tell you stories of this restaurants inception.... I don't even know what to say other than wow! The food WAS SERIOUSLY THE BEST I HAVE HAD IN THIS STATE!!! i ordered a steak cooked medium rare which i have never had a perfectly cooked medium rare steak in Wisconsin.... this place did it perfectly..... if you are anywhere close to this restaurant or you want to take somebody special on a first date bring them here! It's a place that you will always want to come back to.... the owners of this place should be very proud.... thank you for a wonderful night

We have visited twice recently. Once just the two of us, once with a group of six. The owner and his wife are two of the hardest working people I’ve met! Many items on the menu are homemade and all the food is fantastic. Prices are very reasonable. The historic building is great, and the interior decorations are a collection of antiques that will take you back decades. For a great meal, great value and a truly unique atmosphere, we highly recommend!

I was here years ago and the place was really nice but they have really let it go. Floors, bathrooms, curtains etc were dusty and dirty. I ordered the Chicken Marsala without mushrooms. My husband ordered Chicken Cordon Bleu. We waited 45 minutes before our dinners arrived. The Chicken Marsala had mushrooms. The waitress noted that she could see them. I decided that I was not sending the dish back because of how long we had already waited so I just picked the mushrooms out. I will say that the flavor of the dish and the sauce was very good overall and my husband thought his meal was good. The meals included a small salad bar which I liked. Paying our bill seemed odd as the waitress took payment using a mobile phone credit card reader device with spotty wifi service. I don't think we will be going back to this restaurant.

This restaurant is such an eclectic place, you can't help but have you head on a swivel when inside. We've lived 4 blocks from this place for 8 years and just now visited for a belated Valentine's Day dinner, and we were so pleasantly surprised. My husband ordered the baked French onion soup as a starter, which was quite good, and we both ordered the surf & turf for our entrees. He had the lobster and I the shrimp. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and my shrimp was to die for! Our server was good, but we wished he had told us about any specials prior to us ordering. Despite the minor bumps in our visit, we'll still be back!

Stopped in after another supper club was packed. Decor is definitely dated but so unique that you should still experience it. It’s like walking into an antique store, so eclectic. So many things to look at and explore. Bartender was super friendly. Drinks are definitely worth the price. Ordered a steak and it was perfectly delicious. Husband order the house special and almost licked his plate..lol. Stopped at the bar for an after dinner grasshopper which was served in a cute decorated wine glass.

I live only a few blocks away and pass this place every day but I have never been in because I have heard it's weird and haunted. Finally we decided to try it. I started by asking if they had room for two and if they had a highchair for my little one. The bartender was more than happy to accommodate and told me to bring them on in. The atmosphere is.... unique. One of the other reviews described it best as a mix between an antique store and grandma's living room. It is truly bizarre. But on the upside there is plenty of cool stuff to look at. Our service was good not great. Our waiter forgot to ask us our drink orders, and never told us if there were any specials (which I believe there was one) other than that the service was good. The real star of the show was the food. I love a good baked French onion soup and that was on point. Our steaks were cooked properly and were seasoned well. The sight of au jus sauce had us worried briefly, but it was a nice complement. My twice baked potato in a cup was really good. I had no idea what that actually ment but it turned out to be a good gamble. My wife said that she had some of the best shrimp ever. My lobster was very tasty as well.We will definitely be back and I hope to take advantage of the specials next time.
