My husband and I recently took a weekend getaway to Lake Tomahawk, WI, and as food lovers with a particular fondness for Asian cuisine, we always make it a point to try out local spots. I stumbled upon this gem and, despite my husband being a bit of a food critic, I was determined to give it a shot. To our surprise, it exceeded both of our expectations—yes, even my husband’s!
I ordered the pho, which, as any Asian food lover knows, can be hit or miss. But this one was definitely a hit. While it might not have quite matched my mother-in-law’s legendary recipe, it was still incredibly tasty and well-made. My husband went for the Mongolian beef, which was also delicious and packed with flavor.
The bartender was fantastic—busy but attentive, and really on top of things. We also caught a quick glimpse of the chef, who I’m sure came out to make sure everything was up to par, especially since we were the only Asian diners in the restaurant. It was a nice touch, and it made us feel truly welcomed.
If you’re an Asian food enthusiast looking for a satisfying meal in the area, I highly recommend this place. I’ll definitely be back to try the Crying Tiger next time. Keep up the great work!

I’ll start by saying the staff were really lovely and knowledgeable. The food was good, but maybe not great. We had the sliced red pork and it was just okay, served with a fairly ordinary mustard dip. The pho was huge and impressive, broth was flavorful and the ribeye was nice too. Our was missing the egg but the sever gave us eggs to go with our leftovers. My husband enjoyed the shrimp stir fry though only around 4 shrimp in there but they were a good size. I had the green curry, wonderful curry sauce, way too much bamboo in there though. Overall, we would come back and I’m sure they’ll do very well.

Brandon knows what he’s doing. The atmosphere, service, and food was excellent. If you’re looking for an amazing experience, visit the Gaslight tavern. There is nothing comparable to it in the Northwoods. Nobody knows flavor and presentation like Brandon. Try everything and anything that this place offers, it’s truly amazing, you won’t be disappointed.

The food was outstanding as was the service. The building was very clean and nicely decorated. The chef was friendly and very informative about the food. It is definitely worth the ride to Lake Tomahawk if you are anywhere in the area.

Hallelujah, a place with multiple vegetarian options in the Northwoods! Went with a mix of people who eat meat and don't, and everyone was happy.

My parents rave about the crab rangoon egg rolls. I tried the chili oil cheese curds and enjoyed them.

We loved the curries, and I saw people enjoying the pho at a table nearby - looked delicious! If you're looking for these type of Asian dishes, or clearly labeled vegetarian dishes, in the Northwoods - this is worth a stop for sure.

I’m giving 3 stars on atmosphere only because when we walked in we weren’t even greeted. Just stood there and eventually someone came up and just looked at us, grabbed to menus, and said ‘right this way’. Our server was great and very attentive. The food was excellent and different! We had the crab Rangoon which was…goodies, and the dumplings which were awesome! For entrees, I had the tiger steak (little overdone but still good) and my man had the orange chicken which was excellent. Overall, different but very tasty!

Asian Fusion is the focus and it is excellent. The spring rolls, dumplings are flavorful and the sauces are what make them really good. The Mongolian Beef, Peanut Chicken and Terryaki Chicken are all worth trying. Highly recommend.

My husband and I had the Sesame old fashioned and the Plum Brandy Old Fashioned, which were both good.

The food had good potential. We ordered the ahi tuna nachos, the garlic basil shrimp stir fry and the teriyaki chicken.

The nachos were good, but the flavor soon became too overpowering and then there were more chips than tuna. We eventually just started eating only the tuna because there were so many chips for just the 2 of us.

Both of our meals were very flavorful, but there was just a bit too much salt in the sauces. My husband thought his chicken was cooked perfectly. I don't typically like shrimp, but our waitress recommended it. My shrimp were big and juicy, and the vegetables were fresh and crisp.

Overall, we would probably try it again but order something differently.
