Fun and historic. Butter pecan ice cream has lots of pecans but otherwise lacking flavor . Wonderful place to just sit and enjoy being.
Great old fashioned ice cream and candy store. Cool inside seating area. A must see.
Best dubai chocolate ever!
This is a great little shop that’s full of history and handmade everything. The owners were the nicest people ever and the chocolate was fantastic.
Best old school sundaes the area has to offer. Quaint ice cream parlor with an old fashioned feel.
This shop is a step back in time. The beautifully cared for booths, mirrors, candy cases and tiles are a treasure. The many varieties of treats brought joy to everyone in our group. The hardest part was deciding what to pick. We will definitely have this on our repeat list when we visit the area again.
The best Turtle Sundae I've ever had in my life!!
Great candy and atmosphere
Transport yourself back to a simpler time and visit Beerntsen’s in Manitowoc. It was originally founded in 1932 by Joseph Beernsten and remain a family owned business until 2003. The new owners, Dean Schadrie and his family have a background in making chocolate and stated that they would keep it the exact same. I had not been here since I was probably in my early teens and 30 years later it was everything I remembered growing up. I was even able to get the same sundae, the Teddy Bear, that I got as a child, and it was EXACTLY as I had remembered. Even the menu was the same! They have 32 different sundae options for you to choose from. They also have a small lunch menu. Afterwards I had to get some chocolates and taffy. It was a wonderful experience and walk down memory lane. Please like, share and follow!
First time trying this chocolate place!
Got a small size box of chocolate.
The peppermint chocolate and the milk turtle was good.
Will visit again when in town!

I'm not sure how this store stays in business. Servings were extremely small and pricey. The staff acted like it was a terrible burden to wait on others.
We won't go back.

Nostalgic candy and ice cream shop. The chocolates are always a delicious treat. Nice menu of lunch items. Very friendly service. This place is a treasure in Manitowac.

We found the icecream a bit disappointing, esp. my 'chocolate-covered waffle bowl' (which turned out to be a sticky mess of overly sweet choc syrup on the waffle).
The atmosphere & service, however, are to write home about!!

Stopped in for lunch and some candy. The classic dining area was beautiful with its original black walnut seating and tables. The menu of food items was short, but delicious and thoughtfully put together (the ice cream and drink selection was huge though!). My wife and I both enjoyed our food (BLT and chilli ❤️) and ice cream drinks (I had a chocolate phosphate and she had a chocolate malt). The chilli was a surprise hit for us. Perfect seasonings, not skimping on meat, and not one bit greasy. Service was kind and quick. After our lunch we picked up candy including these mints that tasted like I went back in time to my grandma's house. I've never found mints that taste exactly right and have tried many places. If you're in Manitowoc, this is where you should be having lunch.
