We arrived at 4:20 on a Tuesday. At the front door there was a hand written sign stating that due to staffing shortages that they would not be opening until 4:15. The door was still locked, but we saw that a staff member was just driving in to go to work. We waited by the door, saw staff walking around, but no one came to open the door. (They did see us standing there) We left at 4:45 as it still was not opened. Very unprofessional.

Went in for a late ish lunch, the environment was nice fairly quiet, to be expected of a Thursday lunch. Food was good, beer was quite good and the service was fine. Server had some trouble with my Australian accent but that’s pretty common.

Very poor service. There w a group of 8. Not busy at all but took long time to get drinks. Out of my 1st choice of beer. Then out of appetizer we chose. Food was ok. Server didnt think to ask if i wanted another drink. Automatically added 8% gratuity. Will not be going back. Extremely disappointed.

If you want quality pub fare paired with a wide array of exceptional craft beer, this is your best choice in central Wisconsin. The Stout Sprouts appetizer had a crispy exterior, creamy interior, and was perfectly seasoned. We split the Black and Bleu Heron Burger and upgrade of sweet potato fries. The onion tanglers were perfectly crispy and not over seasoned. The burger was moist, cooked to medium as directed and not over-done. We frequently get the sweet potato fries here because they are always crispy on the exterior and have a sweet and creamy interior. Our server was dressed in festive seasonal wear and perfectly attentive, yet not hovering. He checked in frequently to see if we needed anything. We sampled a number of beers that were extremely varied and perfectly brewed with style-appropriate malts, as well as yeasts. This is a gem of a brewpub that prepares food well and brews beer exceptionally well!

I have never met a waiter so rude! We arrived and ordered our food at around 6:30PM. We ordered a pizza and our daughter ordered a sandwich. She got her sandwich after 15 minutes and we were told our pizza was coming out of the oven now. So our daughter waited so we could eat together. After 20 minutes her food was cold and we told her to just eat. She finished her food and our pizza still hadn't come. My husband went to a different waiter and asked where our food was. We have been waiting for an hour and everyone around us had gotten their food and had finished while we were waiting. The waiter said, "Well, they didn't order pizza. We have a party upstairs that's is being served pizza." Our person said, "But we've been waiting for an hour. Are they more important than us?" And the waiter rolled his eyes and walked away. As soon as our waitress saw this, she ran to the kitchen and brought out the pizza. We did have our order in before the party started (it started at 7PM) so we should have at least been at the beginning of the order list. I get it if you're busy because of a party but they could have warned us about the long wait for pizza. Our waitress came and checked on us once (when my daughter got her food) other than that she was busy talking to other workers. I am 99% sure our pizza was given to someone else. The waiting staff was rude and unprofessional and it was an overall bad experience. Not even a "Thank you for being so patient." The food was fine. The beer (and bar tender) are excellent.

We stopped in for a late lunch, based on advertisement in local tourist magazine. Clean, accessible, plenty of parking and outdoor seating available. Large bar area. Several types of brews to chose from or order a flight. Nice menu with a variety of items (not just standard bar food items). Our service was good. 3 of us shared a wood fired pizza which worked perfectly for us. The pizza was hot and fresh. Only observation was the restrooms were a small flight of stairs, there maybe another area or a ramp, but I am not sure. Water was very hot in restroom and it was very neat. We will go again for dinner in the near future. Family oriented place. Suspect if crowded due to the construction, it may get loud inside.

Went there to taste some of their beer. Sat at the bar, in front of the bartender for almost 15 minutes. He never acknowledged we were there, never made eye contact with us or said a word to us. Watched him walk past us literally 10x and never once asked what we would like to drink. The couple in a table behind us canceled their order saying it was taking forever. 4 people I saw behind the bar. We ended up walking out. I wouldn't recommend.

Brew Pub has continually been my favorite for 15+ years now. We have been through so many changes with the place, some good, some bad. I've got to say that seeing it back on the upswing has been so awesome! We have always loved the fish fry (seriously, a hidden gem in Marshfield) and we are so glad the pizza is back! I have not met a Sour Sipper that I haven't liked either. The new owners are passionate about beer and food, which is very evident. I loved it the old way, but love it even more now. Favorite dishes: Mac n cheese, fish n chips, friday fish fry, pizza, CURDS, fried pickles, filet bites (they will make them into a whole meal if you want it!), loaded pub chips...I could go on. Now our biggest decision is having appetizers for our whole meal because we can't decide which is our favorite, pizza, or actual dinners. 10/10 recommend

This was the finest Friday Fish Fry we have experienced …. ever. The fish was cooked perfectly, and the service was impeccable. It appears that the Blue Herron is dealing with the worker shortage by hiring younger waitpersons. That could be a recipe for disaster. Not here! Our servers were excellent. I cannot recall having ever given a 50% tip. I did here. The Blue Herron is 44 miles from our home in Wausau. We shall return!

Worst fish fry I've ever had. All grease. Got a 3 piece, ate none of it! Been to many Wisconsin restaurants and this fish fry is horrible. Told the server. Still had to pay!!! No need to be back

I actually was totally impressed by this place, regardless of a negative experience. My orders did not come out correctly. The food I received was not what I ordered. However…. The beer was amazing, and the part of my order that was right tasted GREAT! Would I eat here again? YES. This place made sure that they made it right with me, and that I was completely satisfied with the result. Where are people like this these days?? Wit respect…. THANK YOU.

We were headed to see a Christmas play in Marshfield from Point and wanted to eat at a new local restaurant. I asked around and many people recommended this place. Trusting the recommendations we stopped in for dinner. It was amazing. The restaurant is located in what I believe is a very old fire house so the atmosphere is cool. Friendly staff, excellent food. I had the steak bites and we shared some amazing cheese curds. The only negative thing is it was busy and they didn't seem to have enough seating. They apparently have an upper level which was closed at the time. Either way, worth the short wait.

Great stop on our way through Marshfield. Super nice bartender and great service. Very clean and well laid out. Enjoyed their beer selection and our lunch was very good. Would definitely return.

We always eat here at least once when we come back to Marshfield. The place has new owners and has remained pretty much the same with the exception that the craft beer menu has changed. Tigers Eye is no longer available and there is limited selection on the darker beers that we like. The pricing seems to have edged up a bit but that is happening all over anymore.
