There was no music playing, service was extremely slow for the place not being very busy at all, food was okay although they shut the grill down at about 8:45pm so when we asked for extra soup to go we were told “they throw it all out every evening”. We all ordered prime rib and rib eye.
It was a freezing cold December day when I found the Green Lantern. I was looking to warm up a bit and headed straight to the cozy bar after parking in the large lot. I really liked the classic bar atmosphere and after a few old-fashioneds I was toasty and happy. I wasn't hungry because I had just eaten lunch earlier, but I could smell all the intoxicating aromas from the food being served to others. I decided to come back the following evening for dinner. The blue gill and walleye were delicious. The serving size is generous and the prices reasonable. The service was fast and friendly. It wasn't busy so we enjoyed the atmosphere over a couple more old-fashioneds.
I definitely want to return to the Green Lantern.
July 2025 update: I was back in the area and just had to stop by Green Lantern again. This time I had a beer and the fish fry for lunch. Everything was a good as I remembered. I wish they were closer to where I live.
Went for breakfast it was amazing would recommend service and staff were great
Went here after several people recommended. Food was alright. Our server was pretty stand-offish. Wasn’t the worst restaurant experience but wasn’t the best.
Lakeside,reasonably priced ,quality food
Disappointing Return After 10 Years.
I visited Green Lantern 10 years ago and had a great meal, so my wife and I decided to give it another try. Big mistake. The salad was withered and unappetizing, and my 1/2 rack of ribs was all fat—no meat at all, just greasy and drenched in BBQ sauce. When I mentioned it, the cook's response was “ribs are supposed to be fatty.” I’ve had plenty of ribs in my life—these were the worst. Sad to say, we won’t be coming back.
A Sad Return to What Used to Be a Great Spot I first visited the Green Lantern about 10 years ago when I moved to the area, and back then, the food was genuinely enjoyable—good enough that it stuck in my mind all these years. So when my wife and I decided to revisit recently, we were hopeful for a nostalgic and satisfying meal. Unfortunately, what we got was far from it. My wife asked about the fish before ordering and was told it was frozen and cooked—not a great start. She went with a salad instead, which arrived looking tired and withered, like it had been sitting out all day. Limp lettuce and watery dressing don’t exactly make for an appetizing experience. I ordered the 1/2 rack of ribs, expecting at least a decent meal. What I got was a plate of disappointment. There was a pool of greasy brown fat dripping onto the plate, and when I took my first bite, I thought I had just hit a fatty patch. By the fifth bite, I realized—there was no meat, just chewy, rubbery fat slathered in BBQ sauce in an attempt to mask the poor quality. When I politely brought this to the waitress's attention, she relayed the message to the cook. The response? “Ribs are supposed to be fatty.” I’ve eaten hundreds of ribs in my life, and while a bit of marbling is expected, these were inedible. No meat, just fat. What was once a solid local spot has clearly lost its way. If you're looking for a place with quality food and pride in the kitchen, sadly, the Green Lantern is no longer it.
Hostess/bartender/waitstaff was solid.
Food was just ok.
Prime rib was extremely tough and no bread basket or more than. (Pick one ) A baked patatie or broccoli or cottage cheese included along with a soup ?
Diet Coke ina can was $2.75 each and a cash discount ?
This is woke Madison and Bidenomics at its best !

One of my favorite restaurants in the area. Charming supper club vibes with great views of the lake, a well put together menu, as well as a friendly staff. The Friday fish fries are awesome.
