I drove up from Chicago to attend a music event in Durand. I knew about the magnificent Mable Tainter Theatre, but in many visits to Menomonie hadn't made it to the Spirit Room. What a pleasant surprise! I'm well aware of the bar scene in Menomonie, I was a student there from 1965 to 1971, and dedicated a frightening amount of time supporting the local establishments. So when I ventured into town recently, I expected, ice cold beer, Brandy old fashions, peppermint schnapps, and conversations about the Packers, the Brewers, Harleys, and who has the best fish fry; and gladly indulged in all of the above. I have friends involved with the Menomonie Theatre Guild, a serious group of Thespians who could could give Broadway actors a run for their money, and they made me aware of The Spirit Room. This hideaway is a magnificent gem in the lower level of the Tainter Theatre, a sophisticated, cozy cocktail lounge that would impress residents of mid-town Manhattan. Taylor, bartender, mixologist, and cordial host, creates classic cocktails and popular drinks that would satisfy the most sophisticated pallet. Hey, it's a great bar, cool people, great drinks, reasonable prices.

Unique atmosphere that you don’t often find in small towns, great service and some creative high quality drinks. I didn’t visit on a night when there was live music but I’ve heard that’s a great experience.

Really enjoyed our visit here. The bartender was great and gave us a little history of the place. Fantastic service, super atmosphere. Will definitely be back.

Such a unique place. Not just for Menomonie. A high class, affordable, subterranean speakeasy. Seriously cool.

These guys don't skip a beat. Concert night, probably 200+ patrons in the house, most of whom were at the bar. I order a Cosmo because I'm manly like that. I come back down after intermission literally an hour later, "Another Cosmo for you?" Dear god, how do you even know my face let alone what I ordered!? Was it my smell? Did I tell a joke? Why did I deserve such consciousness service? Later I spoke with my group and each one said the same thing, "Spotted cow, Old Fashioned, Sauvignon blanc." Gotta say, top notch memories on these bartenders!

I did not have any food, so I can't speak to that. However, the cocktails were fantastic and served promptly. It is a beautiful, relaxing room as well!

A very comfortable lounge for drinking a pre-theatre glass of wine.
