As loyal customers of The Deli on Crown for over a year, we were disappointed with their catering service at our big event. We spent about $2,000 with the expectation of quality food and professional service. The food itself was delicious, which made the experience even more disappointing due to the lack of attention to our specific request.
From the very beginning, we clearly communicated the need for gluten-free options in addition to the regular menu. We understood there wouldn’t be many gluten-free choices, which is why we were careful to confirm that the few options available—like the chicken salad—would be safe to eat. We were assured that the croutons would be served on the side. However, when it was finally time to sit down and enjoy the meal, the croutons were scattered all over the top of the salad, making it inedible for anyone avoiding gluten.
When this was brought to the owner’s attention, the response was simply an apology, with no further effort to address the situation or make things right.
UPDATE: After posting our review, we received a call from The Deli on Crown. We had the opportunity to hear their perspective, and they listened to ours as well. The matter was resolved.

Welcoming friendly staff. Abundant choice of delicious eats and a gift store right next door. Very pleased with our afternoon dining experience. Everyone found all the food absolutely delectable. They do a fantastic job with their pastries. Can’t wait to taste more .
Kid-friendliness: Absolutely welcome children. No highchair provided but that wasn’t a dealbreaker and they have kids meal options

Consistently delicious food. I've not yet tried a sandwich, salad or dinner specials (monthly) I did not like. My new and current favorite is the curry chicken salad (salad of the month). The only reason I'm giving it four stars on Service is because of the opening hours (until 4pm).
