So delicious! Highly recommend. Had the lentil soup and veggie sampler. Excellent flavors, good mix of mild and spicy (but not very hot-spicy), delicate injera.

Unique ethnic dining experience. One of our party ordered 4 vegetarian items on sampler plate, we 3 ordered lamb, chicken and beef. If you allow, it'll come on a unified giant circular tray. It's so big that if yr a party of 4 sit at a table of 6 if not busy. VERY FLAVORFUL. The menu description of a few items as very spicy is misleading as it is not hot, just well seasoned so don't shy away. My favorite veggie side was the lentils. Sambusa beef appetizers great. Try the Ethiopian beers. Ask for silverware including spoon for large platter.

We’ve been dining here for over a decade. It’s one of the best restaurants around and easily the best Ethiopian restaurant we’ve ever been to. We love Mulu; she truly cooks for you like you’re family.

Veggie special is delicious and filling. They have a garden salad and a lentil salad which are both vegan if you want a little more food. One of my favorites in the city!

This was my first time trying Ethiopian food, and everything was absolutely amazing! The flavors were so delicate, rich, and unique. Definitely a spot worth checking out you won’t be disappointed!

Really tasty Ethiopian food. Very relaxed atmosphere and a simple menu with all the staples of Ethiopian cuisine . We had the Doro Wat ( chicken in red sauce ) and cabbage and carrots ( Alitcha) and split peas in red sauce.

My wife and I had our first experience with Ethiopian cuisine at Alem, and it was extremely impressive and delicious. The sambusas, veggie combo with smaller portions of 4 different vegetarian dishes, doro tibs and juicy spicy beef tibs were all out of this world and were served with delicious injera bread. I can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough, it was truly excellent with very friendly service.

6/7/2025, the food was terrible and injera is stale and the meat smell fishy and cabbage not sure if it’s the cooking oil or what, the food didn’t have the Ethiopian taste of spices and no smell of food in the restaurant it’s like the food were prepared overnight and served the following day. It didn’t give me the taste, smell and the feel of Ethiopian restaurants across the world. Serve water frequently because stale injera and none juicy Tips and the rest of dry vegetables doesn’t go down easily. We drive a distance to go eat Ethiopian food so I expect it to taste and smell Ethiopian cuisine not anything else because I grew up with Ethiopians from the year 2002, so I know the taste and smell. Alem need to improve cooking!

Okay... I probably wouldn't come back. I have had better ethiopian elsewhere including Ethiopian Cottage on the east side. I wish the food was spicer.

I called ahead for pick up and got the lentils and the split pea combo plate and it was DELICIOUS.

They have a whole vegan section on the menu. I ordered the lentil and cabbage entrees. Both were very good. Staff were friendly and service was very fast.
