Not sure if they changed chefs from last winter when my wife and I and friends were in Ash, but food seems very cheap and in poor taste, it is reminiscent of a culinary student fresh out of school. You cannot advertise “award winning chefs” with food like this. What was also disappointing was that they have no menu posted anywhere, you have to go and find out and be disappointed. This was turning into a hidden culinary gem within Milwaukee, with bold and exciting flavors and presentations, not sure if the financial troubles of the hotel contributed to the change, but I cannot say this is for the better, but the very opposite. They need to bring a real chef back in here. I could have spent less and had a better meal at Texas Roadhouse or a chilis.

Came for Thanksgiving brunch. I have a pretty low bar as far as what I was expecting, but it was even worse. The turkey was very dry, the other food was totally flavorless. The food on the buffet it was room temperature . The buffet was pretty sad with no salad and very minimal desserts. The only good thing was the short ribs. The restaurant was very cold and the music was very loud. We ordered a bottle of white wine. Our waitress put it in an ice bucket without opening it and walked away. There was no way we can open it so I asked her to please open it. She opened it and then just put it back in the bucket. The service was absolutely horrible. I hate to complain but over $400 for four people for one of the worst meals I've ever had is pretty annoying.
The shower was disgusting. Mold was on the shower ledge and was thick on the hose to the shower wand. This only can happen when you don’t clean properly! I shouldn’t have to clean before I try to get clean. Attention to detail is extremely important! I was very disappointed.
My wife and I booked a room well in advance. When we arrived, at the check in desk, the manager and host had a long conversation. We were given our keys. When getting to the room it was obvious we were put in a lower category room then what we reserved and paid for in advance. We were not told of this at check in but left to either notice or not. We went down and asked why. The manager told us they were sold out of our room. How can that be when we reserved over a month out and paid in advance. This practice seems unethical based on profit. Promising a room category then selling the room at a higher price to someone else yet charging the original price and putting us in a lower price room. We are very disappointed in the lack of transparency during check in and the practice.
We had a perfectly grilled steak and the pillowy soft gnudi, followed by a decident pot do creme. We sat at the chef's table and were able to see up close a set of spectacular chefs in action.
The staff was phenomenal and super accommodating of the fact that we brought our 4 year old along in our date night. The menu is small but there were plenty of options especially since we have food allergies (gluten free and nut free). I wish they had more options for sides and a dinner salad or complimentary bread to eat as appetizers. We had the ribeye to share and the half chicken and both were great. We left feeling satisfied even despite not having much by way of sides on our dishes (steak comes with arugula and the chicken came with a couple purées on the plate). We will definitely eat here again.
I was visiting Milwaukee from Wausau, and one of my relatives had confirmed reservations on her phone which she showed the hostess at 8:45 pm on a Saturday night. We were all dressed up as well and ready to have a great night and got told by the hostess that the restaurant is closed for a private party. The hostess said she is sorry and she thought someone had called us even though no one did! She said she was sorry and would reschedule us for another night; too bad for that I don't live here and would not be in town to come next week or weekend. Because the communication was god awful and because there were very few places to go to eat and we had absolutely no communication whatsoever, we will not return!
I couldn't rate anything besides the service for the restaurant because it's hard to rate something when you don't receive anything!
I had to be up at 6am for a meeting and there was a extremely loud party on the top floor until midnight. Absolutely unacceptable for a hotel where the main objective is to SLEEP. I called the front desk and they basically told me that their party is more important than my sleep. Terrible customer service. Terrible planning in regards to the rave going on in the conference room. Just terrible.
We enjoyed a wonderful Valentine's weekend tasting menu experience at Ash. This was our first time at the restaurant. Our server, Brandi, was amazing She explained everything we were enjoying, and had some very good beverage recommendations. It was a very nice experience, and the valet service was also very efficient and the drivers courteous.
Fantastic Valentine's Day menu. Everything was served in a timely manner and great service.

We had an exceptional experience at Ash. From our server Brandi to the food, everything was perfect. We loved it so much that we'll be back again in March to celebrate a birthday.
Tell me why I have contacted this place 3 times to cancel a reservation and have my reservation refund and yet to here anything back from them so I have no idea if my reservation was cancelled and or if my refund has been issued
This is poor communication and very unprofessional!!
Great location, unique room style, excellent service, and a sense of fun all make the Iron Horse our favorite place to stay in downtown Milwaukee!
We were able to watch our dinner being made with a romantic ambiance….we had the artichoke appetizer and shared the half chicken….and would recommend both! Our server Brandi was great and very knowledgeable on the menu!!
The chefs cooking where you could watch and the open fire flavors are amazing. I never thought a grilled pink grapefruit would be one of the best dishes I have had in quite some time.
