Our dinner was delicious, the service was wonderful, it was quiet enough that we could easily carry on a conversation, and the wine selections were very good.

We had reservations for 8:45 and we were not seated until 9:20. It was New Years Eve so you could give some leeway there except that they required a $50.00 deposit at the time of reservation. If we had been 1/2 hour late, would they have honored the reservation? The restaurant is in a historic building. The entry area from the parking lot is beautiful but the restaurant itself is pretty stark and was not very festive given the occasion. I thought the selections and price for a three course meal was limited. The duck dumplings were tasty but the dough was thick and texture was off putting. The main course Wagyu short rib was fatty and tasteless. The chocolate dome dessert was tasty and had a nice presentation. The wait staff were efficient but not particularly friendly. All in all, a disappointing meal for the price.

My husband and I dined on New Year's Eve, to celebrate our seven year wedding anniversary. Our meal started off with amuse bouche, followed by our appetizers. I ordered the lobster bisque, as this is one of my favorite dishes to enjoy when I dine out. It needed more lobster, and could have benefited from some additional sherry. It perked up a little bit as I added some pepper. My husband had the duck dumplings, and they were fantastic. For our entrées, we had the lobster pasta and the filet. The lobster pasta was delicious, and contained both claw meat, as well as a whole lobster tail. It was seasoned very nicely and cooked perfectly. My fillet was one of the most tender that I have eaten! The flavoring however, was just not spectacular. The sauce was lackluster, and I found myself very envious of my husband‘s lobster pasta. His meal was much better than mine. For dessert, we enjoyed a chocolate dome which contained a chocolate mousse on the inside with an intense chocolate covering and some sauces. It tasted very nice.

Service was great and atmosphere was beautiful. We had the 6 course menu plus 5 cheese course. The cheese was honestly just okay. 3 year hooks cheddar was so basic to offer and we were told that it was most likely a 5 year. It wasn't. The cheese was unimpressive. The amuse was amazing and we hoped it would continue throughout the menu but overall, the 6 courses were just okay. The tuna crudo was a nice flavor and texture, next was the parsnip soup. The oil/vinegarette on the soup was so over powering. That I couldn't finish it. Soup itself had a wonderful creamy texture. The star of the 6 was the duck. Perfectly cooked, skin rendered and crispy. No complaints. The scallop dish had issues. First, it was Bay Scallops. Really? The menu doesn't say that as I recall. Even worse, the sweet potatoes were inedible. Rock hard, roasted for 3 mintutes hard. The waygu was next and it lacked any flavor. A waygu just needs some salt, but I don't think they put a single flake on it. Tender and melt in your mouth however. Strawberry pavlova was dessert. It was sweet but not overly, not anything to write home about. Overall for $300, I wouldn't get the 6 course again. I've been to 4 other tasting menu restaurants in the area and liked them better.

What an amazing restaurant. The wine list is extensive, but the sommelier was so helpful. The food is extraordinary. We had the Foie gras and the yellow fin tuna crudo - the preparation was perfection - as good as the tuna itself was the vegetables under were a revelation. The Jonah crab had the right combination of sweet, tart and butter while the parsnip bisque was a silky as it was delicious. The venison and duck mains were very good. They also had a cheese plate option that allowed us to try some interesting cheeses to finish. The staff is very knowledgeable and made several recommendations which we appreciated. we will be back!

After the Journal/Sentinel came out with their top 25 restaurants in Milwaukee, we decided to try them in alphabetical order, and Bacchus was #3. We both decided to opt for the 3-course meal for $65 per person. When we placed our order, the waitress mentioned that truffles are in season and suggested we add them to our soup order. She did not mention the price, and we figured it was an additional $5-$10 for the additions. Our bill came, and adding the truffles was $65 per bowl of soup (the same amount for our 3-course meal). We decided not to make a scene and pay the bill, but we felt like we were taken advantage of, and it was extremely unprofessional. The meal was very good, except for this.

The menu was a grand slam. Out of the park.
If it were socially acceptable to lick the plate clean, I would’ve.

Proof, time and time again why Bacchus is one of the culinary Titans of Milwaukee.

You absolutely MUST try it.

My wife, daughter and I had a very nice Saturday evening birthday dinner at Bacchus. The ambience was very refined and pleasant, it wasn't too noisy even though the room we were in was pretty full, and the food was inspired and delicious. The service at our table could have been better. Our main server seemed a bit distracted, and her service was uneven and a bit slow. I asked the sommelier for help selecting a nice bottle of champagne, and he seemed hesitant and unfamiliar with the offerings (which seemed rather over-priced by the way). He ultimately suggested one of the more high-priced options, even though I had asked for a moderately priced option. Still, overall, we enjoyed our evening and our dinner.
