This is a lovely little hidden gem. It sits in a little cafeteria area on the first floor of an apartment building. The food was hot, fresh, refreshing and delicious. I wish we got more radish, it was so good! Def recommened the taiwan menu side. The veggies are cooked, but served cold, which was surprisingly perfect.
There is a little seating area that you can eat at if you want to stop in.

I've been here several times in the past and have raved about the HongShao pork (braised pork belly) because it is similar to a Vietnamese dish that I've loved ever since I was a young child, called thit nuong. I've only ordered things that were made to order and have enjoyed the dishes for the most part. However, I am a bit conflicted because of the most experience that my fiancé and I had. We came here last week since we were in the area running errands. We ordered off of the lunch buffet, which I've never done before and will definitely not do again. We each got several items to try, including the chow mein noodles, fried rice, crab rangoon, eggroll, 3 cup chicken, 5 spice chicken, massamum curry and the orange chicken. Honestly, nothing made me say, "Wow, this is really good." It tasted similar to items that you'd find at any mall Chinese fast food restaurant (although, yes, I know, not everything we ordered was Chinese American, but you get my point). It was the first time that I left here dissatisfied, but at least I know now that the next time I return, I'll go with my gut and stick with my usual HongShao pork.
I got the sweet and sour chicken bento box. They charged me 11$ for some chicken nuggets not worth the price.

Small mom and pop shop with lots of tasty food. I ended up moving into these apartments just to come order food from here every other night. I really enjoy the steam pork buns and butter chicken.

Super delicious and authentic Gua Bao, come to Milwaukee to try it! ! The lunch special at noon is also very cost-effective. Come on, the three-layer meatloaf is super delicious. The fat part melts in your mouth. It contains peanut powder + sugar, sauerkraut and coriander. It’s very thoughtful! Even the fried rice is definitely better than the average fast food lunch restaurant. You can taste the cabbage and a little bit of hot pot flavor, not just the smell of soy sauce.
I am Taiwanese and I highly recommend their guabao and lunch special. Their five spices fried chicken rice bento is very good( Salt Crispy Chicken Rice). Their fried vegetables rice is very delicious too. There's big pieces of cabbage and I can even taste the flavor of wokhay, beyond the typical soy sauce with rice bland flavor. A hidden gem in Milwaukee.

Despite going keto, I still crave their five spices crispy chicken. Their bento box is very generous and well thought out - a lot of places will give you blah sides, but their sides in the bento are all fresh and delicious.
You can chose to get any of the main dish as a "side" rather than as part of bento. This used to be much more affordable, but on my last visit (6/2024), the bento was $12, and the side was $9. I wanted to skip the bento since I wanted to just cheat my keto diet with my favorite five spices chicken, but if you want a better deal, get the bento. Both their braised egg and egg rolls are yummy. I actually also really love their stir fried veggies.
My second favorite dish is their Beijing beef. It has been a while since I've been in and I see Korean chicken on their menu now, and I look forward to trying it out.
So far, I haven't had anything here that wasn't good (Ok, with the exception of their pork bun, which wasn't bad, but I didn't think it was as good as their other greater fare).
What I love more about Bento Xpert are the owners. Samuel and Lydia are both so friendly and make my visits pleasant. Thanks for bringing this authentic Taiwanese experience to Milwaukee!
Parking: It's "kinda" downtown, and parking is hard to find. More catered toward people who work in the building. Hubby usually drops me off while I run in and grab my order.

Cute and friendly elderly couple running this stall. I thought the lunch specials were a good value, affordably priced at around $8(1 side dish) and $9(2 side dishes) per plate. They had a decent selection of hot-and-ready dishes, mainly Taiwanese and Westernized Chinese dishes. They also serve all sorts of boba tea and fresh fruit smoothies, which I didn't try.

I hope you go in wearing flip flops because this food is going to knock your socks off. Fast, tasty and relatively cheap. Definitely a place I would stop again. I got the Orange chicken and that was great almost too much to eat. My nephew got the braised beef and demolished it. Only missing a star on atmosphere becuase of the location and the vibe as a kitchen corner. Still 5 star food
