Was very hopeful about this restaurant - first impression was very positive. The outside of the place looked very inviting - and the vibe inside did not disappoint. It was a typical Saturday - nothing crazy but service was slow - the host and wait staff were friendly but clearly seemed understaffed based on the slow water, drinks, and order taking and delivery. We sat 15 min before we placed a drink and app order. Then almost the same until the drinks arrived. Drinks and apps were good (warm olives) and would have liked to order another round but never got the attention. Finally ordered dinner and wine - took quite some time again. I am all for a paced meal but i go out to get service attention ! We ordered pasta - Cacio E Pepe and Scampi - both were overpriced, precooked tough flavorless pasta swimming in oil. Luckily the scallops and shrimp were not overly cooked! Based on the feedback the table next to us had the same reaction…
The quality of this food did not justify the price paid(or even if we paid less!)

The bolognese was to die for and the ambiance was charming. Wait staff was on it. Sangria was perfect, not too sweet. Highly recommend

New items to the menu were great! The artichoke dip with crostini is a must have table app. And my favorite, the Bolognese, was heartier and delicious as ever.

Simply terrific. Food is fabulous, from appetizers to desert. Best Italian food in Milwaukee by a long shot. All of our entrees were delicious from pizza to pasta. Cannot wait to go again.

What on earth has happened to Cafe Centro? This used to be one of our favorite places to eat - literally for years. We ate here last night and did not have the kind of experience that has kept us coming back. And as a result, we won’t be coming back. At least, not for a long while - and here is why. With meals out having become so ridiculously expensive, the differentiator comes down to service and overall experience. We expect the food to be good. Last night, a group of four of us arrived at 6:30 and were literally served our main courses at 8:10 - nearly 2 hours later, with no apology for the delay. There appeared to be one server (she was pleasant - credit where credit is due) and a single cook (always 2 in previous visits). The food was good, but not exceptional (my wife’s chicken was overcooked and dry). Every part of our experience was painfully slow. Our server barely checked on us, did not see if we wanted additional drinks, and seemed overwhelmed - all understandable if she really was the only server, but again, that kind of experience is simply not acceptable. The hostess who seated us was absolutely devoid of personality - she literally said not a single word after we gave her our name and were ushered to our table. All in all - no. This kind of experience is not going to compel our return, which is sad. We have friends visiting from Florida next month and Centro has ALWAYS been a must stop for dinner for us. That will not be the case this time. When we do come back - and we eventually will - I hope we find the kind of service and experience we have come to know and love from Cafe Centro.

Came in on a slow day. Was promptly sat at the bar and given a water and... Then the staff disappeared. Eventually I ordered a drink and an entree. Staff then complained right in front of me about people who order water and an entree. Well sunshine, I would have been inclined to order more but that attitude soured my desire to stay any longer. I could have gotten more and waited for the rain to die down, but decided it was best to be somewhere where the people don't hate me. There goes your tip, too.

I totally get it, we all have things we don't like doing, but to treat your customers like an inconvenience and say as much right in front of them is next level.

I'm not sure I'll come back.

Centro Cafe has been our favorite date night spot for years - the food is always fresh and delicious, the atmosphere is lovely and quaint, and the drinks are amazing too! They have the best Negroni in Milwaukee and we love their rocket salad so much we started making a version of it ourselves at home. Great gluten-free options as well. Truly such a gem!

Great vibes for a hot summer evening. This was our dinner and drinks choice before going to Mad Planet to dance. The drinks were exactly what we were looking for. Espresso martini was made perfectly. We ordered a few appetizers and a plate of Cacio e pepe and it was the perfect amount for the three of us. Great conversations with our server, it was a perfect fit for our night. Will definitely be spending more time in the hidden gem area of Milwaukee.

My husband and I went here on a date tonight and we had a wonderful time! This was one of the best Italian meals we've had in the US!

We were excited for this meal. All 4 dishes lacked salt entirely…I’ve never had an experience like this before. This includes dishes with inherently salty stuff: pancetta, capers, etc. I don’t think the pasta water was even salted. We had the short rib bolognese, cacio e pepe scallops, gnudi and shrimp scampi. The bolognese had almost no meat in it. We love good food (Milwaukee is full of it!) and have had great Italian both here and in Italy…you cannot go here planning to have good Italian food. The chef team needs to taste dishes for seasoning before rolling out an entire menu in the current condition.

Fantastic food. Tiramisu, bruschetta and pasta were fantastic.

The food and employee's are incredible, but the owners are some of the meanest, most entitled people I have ever met. I wish I could support this small business, but the way I've seen them speak to fellow community members isn't just embarrassing, but shameful.
