A nice family owned restaurant. The hummus can't be beat. And their kabobs hit the spot with the flavors. VERY generous portions.

Food was very good but very upset at the server. I was the second person to dine in. The server took a while to see what I wanted. I asked two kids there if I could order and that’s when they retrieved the waiter from the back. I ordered the food. I was expecting my lentil soup to be served first. Well, the waiter never asked if I wanted the soup first which is common courtesy to ask! I waited and he brought the soup along with the food. I can tell the waiter lacks restaurant staff training! I won’t be going back because I was so dissatisfied with the poor customer service. At the end, I asked for a box to go, he brought it and disappeared. Again, I had to ask one of the kids to get the server so I could pay. Very poor customer service!!!!!! The bathroom was poorly cleaned too.

The best hummus and falafel sandwich in town. I don’t know what the spicy red pepper sauce is- that’s new since I’ve been ordering but it’s really good.Best value of food for your dollar as well.

Great food and service. Always a great meal and very hospitable owners/staff. Don’t let the building construction out front deter you from some great eats! Vegetarian sampler app is a great choice for lunch.

Burnt and flavorless falafels and when is the last time you changed your fryer oil? Ordered the falafel wrap today for lunch. When I opened it up it looked amazing, but after that first bite I tasted nothing but over-cooked burnt falafels and old fryer oil. The falafels themselves had no taste along with every ingredient within the wrap. I literally dissected my wrap, pulling almost everything out, especially the wilted wet slimy lettuce. I would not order from here again.

Went to the Damascus Gate and I was glad I did! The building itself, aside from some reconstruction going on outside at the moment, is pretty spacious, atmospheric and pretty on the inside! The service inside was nice and quick, friendly, and git me my food soon after taking my order! Side food was really good! Falafel, meat and rice dish, hummus, and on a lessee note lentil soup amd bread were all tasty and at a good affordable price! Aside from the soup and bread JUST NEEDING to be a pinch better and the area the restaurant was in being a little shady, I liked Damascus Gate and would suggest giving it a try once if you're in the area!Video and Pictures are of the inside of the building, menu, and food I got!

Vegetarian options: Plenty of non meat poultry or chicken options on the menu!

Dietary restrictions: Most menu items are clearly there to read and what details aren't, you can ask about!

Parking: No GOOD lots and seems more street based!

Kid-friendliness: It seems like a kid friendly place but aside from the French Fries? I dunno if kids would like the food!

Wheelchair accessibility: Didn't seem like a difficult place for wheelchair bound folks to get into!

Damascus Gate is absolutely fantastic. The food is excellent, especially the chicken, hummus, falafel...you can't really go wrong. The food tastes exactly as it does in the Levant. Expect a simple ambiance without frills if dining in, with warm service and cheap prices. You can fill your table with options for several adults for $50. I highly recommend DG to anyone looking for Middle Eastern food as an authentic, delicious option, and some of the best in the Milwaukee area. Give it a try!

Our favorite Middle Eastern food in Milwaukee. Owned and operated by Syrian refugees, we used to get their Damascus Tour appetizer platter as takeout during the pandemic. The staff are very friendly and the dishes delicious.

Food was absolutely amazing! So fresh and flavorful. We arrived right as they were opening so the service was a bit slow but well worth the wait. I will definitely be returning and recommending to friends.

Without going into too much detail about why we wont be returning, I see I'm not the only one who would be talking about to service that takes as long as molasses. Being understaffed is one thing, but having to wait almost 30 minutes for tea & water when there's only one other table there, besides us, was a little too slow for me. We also had to go up and ask for silverware. When our food finally came up, all we could do was sit there and smell it because we didn't get silverware. If you have all day to wait for mediocre food, then I recommend this place. Go at your own risk.

So I like trying new food and stumbled across this gem of a restaurant by accident. While a pretty underwhelming interior, the service and food more than made up for it. Seemed family run, and the mother was super sweet taking my order. The young son put a smile on my face when he took me by the elbow to show me where the bathroom was. The falafel sandwich was amazing with a side of tahini and some sweet pickles. The salad was interesting with pita chips on the top. My only complaint was the dressing was too strong and I found I couldn't eat a lot. It's kind of an intense balsamic vinegar dressing. But that could be traditional. The bottom line is to go and enjoy. I will be back. Oh, I forgot rosewater lemonade amazing.
