I always enjoy grabbing some drinks at Elwood's. Seems like a little more mature option when I'm water street. They have plenty of seating as they enclose their porch. The only downfall to the enclosed porch is that people smoke cigarettes in there, so If you hate that, then likely best to either sit on the inside portion of the bar or to find a different bar. The servers have always been friendly, bathrooms are typically clean, and they have both darts and bags.

DON’T GO HERE! I was here with a band touring through, playing the Pabst. I had just gotten off work. We walked over after the show. It was about midnight and their sign and Google said they were open until 2am. We were having a nice time! All of a sudden the lights flashed on at 1:32am and we were told we had to go. This was right after I had ordered a second drink and the bartender never mentioned he’d be kicking us all out ten minutes later. Really low-ball energy. When I questioned them he just said “this is how it is”. I understand if things are wild or we’re being disrespectful, but we’re about as tame as they come and are pros - just looking for a good bar in Milwaukee to hang at for a moment after a great show at the Pabst. Clearly this ain’t it. The bartenders seemed fine at the beginning and then they just had this awful cop-like energy. The real reason they closed must have been because they weren’t busy enough and didn’t want to remain open the remaining 28 minutes. Bartender was a red headed guy with a ponytail - rude dude. Served me another drink no problem but I didn’t even get to finish half of it. I’m a good tipper too. Yes I am ranting. I go to good bars all the time. THIS AINT IT
Great bar, incredible bar staff and owner. It's awesome to see that top tier service is still important to some establishments. Definitely recommend for a good time.

service was okay, staff was friendly besides one male bartender. there was an incident over the weekend where 8 cops flew by the bar and I saw people running for their life. I ran up to the bar panicking and asked the bartender to cut the music off and he blankly stared at me and asked why. then I told him that people were running away from something and we need to know what’s going on outside. so he stared at me then turned it partially down.. there was a shooting with 30 rounds fired off by trinity towards the cops. definitely happy it wasn’t someone coming close to the establishment with a gun or no one would’ve been able to hear anything.. as people ran by and the bouncers stood by the door & they turned the music up full blast so we still didn’t know if the coast was clear or if the situation outside was handled. definitely didn’t feel like that bartender cared about his patrons.

Great place in the Milwaukee bar district(I know that's not what it's called). You will walk by lines at other places to find this seemingly beer and liquor outlet. inside you will find an extremely kind staff, brewery/dive bar atmosphere, cheap drinks, and some outside games and TVs. Add to this that you can sometimes bring in your own food Elwood is a staple in our entertainment cycle when we have out of town visitors. It really is a cool place, give it a try and don't get sucked into the 2-3 "hot bars" with lines if 30-50 people waiting to wait for drinks. Elwoods is a gem.

One of the door guys was suuuuuper helpful when I walked past with a friend earlier in the evening. We were trying to find a spot for dinner but everything was closed or didn't have any vegetarian options. He helped us get over to the Tavern - we headed back to say thank you and have a drink afterwards and it was such a great vibe inside.
