We visited the cafe for the first time and were super pleased. The help was efficient & friendly, the food & the bloody mary was great. I had the portobello sandwich & my husband had the twisted cuban. We were very, very happy.

I placed an order using a food service platform to pick up five sandwiches for my staff for Teacher Appreciation Week. We’d all agreed to try something new and the menu seemed to accommodate all of the different tastes we preferred. I arrived a little after the pickup window and was greeted very dryly after having to walk halfway through the crowded restaurant to reach the hostess. As I began to inform her that I was there for a pick up, she turned and hastily moved further back through the space. So I followed, because I thought maybe she could not hear me since she did not respond. In the rear of the restaurant there was another space that seemed to be for pick ups so I knew then I must be in the right space but I’d stepped too far left after going up the steps and ended up in their work area. To lighten the mood, I joked about having moved so fast that I landed in the wrong space as I walked around the counter. The woman (who did not wear a name tag and would not give me her name) mocked me. Wobbling her head around while mouthing my words followed by a whispered “ya think”. I supposed she didn’t think that I could see her or she just didn’t give a ——, so I asked “what was that”. She froze before saying “nothing, um here’s your food.”

I don’t know the reasoning behind her disposition and don’t care to know because she should have checked that at the door or stayed home. The only reason I will return is to find out her name, otherwise they can keep their unseasoned house chips and their crumbly veggie burger. The sandwich fell apart before I could even get into the first bite. The food was just as nasty as her service.
So no, I don’t and won’t recommend either to anyone.

Not really impressed with this place. I got Martha’s country Benedict. It comes with a micro green salad? For breakfast? Ew. And no substitutions allowed…. Honestly the salad wasn’t bad, but it came on the same plate as my breakfast. The mix of vinaigrette and sausage gravy is not good. And I was going to pay 7$ for a side of hashbrowns…..

We really loved our experience at Highlands Cafe today. We’ve never had a bad experience or food, but today was particularly exceptional as it was the first time we brought our boys (2 years and 11 months). We had promised our 2 year old ice cream with breakfast as where we were originally going to go, they have malts. Much to our surprise they were closed, cue the toddler meltdown 🫠 Highlands cafe to save the day! No wait, they made a “special ice cream drink” right away for our 2 year old (chocolate milk with whip cream and sprinkles) and he could not have been more happy. The food was excellent to boot! And a mimosa and bloody for mom and dad 🥰 We will definitely be back often. Thank you Highlands Cafe for your hospitality, kindness, patience, and grace ❤️🫶

Usually, this place is always a 5 star from me. The Portobello sandwich has been my favorite since they opened over 10 yrs ago. Today proves why I DO NOT tip online when placing my online orders, I wait until I pick up. This sandwich was the sloppiest I've ever had and is truly disappointing. It may take a while for me to go back, if ever, but I will sit inside with hopes of having a presentable, palatable sandwich.

I ordered the steak hash. I do not recommend. Steak was not good. Over cooked, under flavored. Mimosa was good. Service was good.
