The grilled oysters we had for starters were excellent. I'm not a huge fan of cooked oysters usually, but these were just dynamite. We had a sweet corn endive salad which was great, and then the tacos. The tacos were fantastic. The corn tortillas were somehow strong but not overbearing and they were filled to perfection with some really unique and complex flavors that worked! Overall a great experience and they squeezed us in last minute as well!

Really loved this place. My mother loves Mexican food and we go somewhere for it every year around Milwaukee. I feel like the meal we had last night was the best ever purely from the creativity/quality/execution of the food. All other aspects of the meal were perfect for us as well. Much thanks to the staff and management/ownership. I believe we will be back next year!
Vegetarian options: There are some fantastic vegetarian options on the menu. I will add that they are not big in to letting people customize things so if you have allergies or specific dietary requirements, you may want to look elsewhere. But if you are an omnivore or vegetarian, definitely go here. Oh also, I do believe a lot of dishes were gluten free simply by coincidence.
Dietary restrictions: See my comments regarding vegetarian dishes.
Kid-friendliness: Not really the place for very young children but my 12 year old daughter was very pleased.
Wheelchair accessibility: Not sure about this one, the front entrance is stairs and it is a very cozy space, might not be the best for people in a wheelchair but it's worth giving them a call to ask.

Buzzy, intimate dining room adjacent to the open concept kitchen. Great date spot.
Favorite bite was the vegetable tlayuda. Rich flavors, complex textures on top of a perfectly crunchy tortilla.

We had a great experience at La Dama on Friday evening! It was our first time dining there, so we weren’t sure what to expect, but the service was EXCELLENT - Carmen was incredibly kind, warm, attentive and helpful. Every dish we had was delicious and unique. Highly recommend the vegetable tlayuda, octopus tostada, and the salmon. The salmon was perhaps the best cooked restaurant salmon I’ve ever had; tender, moist, and flavorful. All of the flavors were so complex but balanced! Cannot say enough good things about La Dama - we will be back!!!

This was my first time at La Dama and it was excellent!! Delicious, intentionally crafted food with interesting and balanced flavors. As a pescatarian, I especially loved the vegetable tlayuda and tostada de pulpo. Great service and casual, fun environment.

First time at La Dama, but it's been on our list for a while. We have been trying to keep up with the many new restaurants that have opened in Milwaukee, and this has been one of the best, all around experiences! So glad that we stopped and will definately be back.
Had a 6:00 reservation on a Saturday night. Got seated right away. We had a few choices, inside, outside or a little spot right at the end of the bar, which we took. Turned out to be a very good choice in seating.
The bartender was our server, and he did an incredible job the entire night. (Thanks Aton) And we got a great view of the work in the micro-kitchen on the other side. All the staff were super friendly, helpful and efficient.
We started with a couple of drinks, a Margarita and Old Fashioned. Each of them was a unique blend of ingredients with a seasoned salt along the rim. Also placed a order of their guacamole which was fresh, tastely and inventive. Who puts Pomegrate seeds in Guac! So unique and yummy!
We order a combination of Tacos, Grilled Shrimp, and Octopus. Each of them was fresh, hot, flavorful, and inventive (there's that word again).
It's a small place, with an even smaller kitchen. The entire staff was working hard to make and serve. You should plan according, and give yourself 1.5 hrs, so as to not feel rushed.
We will definately be back, and maybe save room for dessert. And maybe try the beautiful outdoor patio too.
Parking: Took a couple trips around the block to find a spot.

We had a reservation and were quickly seated. The hostess was welcoming and gave us a choice between sitting inside or outside. Unfortunately, that was the only positive experience with this restaurant.
Our server came over fairly quickly, then disappeared for 30 minutes before coming back. He was always outside checking on other tables and passed by us at least 6 times without ever acknowledging us. When he finally came over to take our order, he seemed frustrated when we had questions about the menu and was impatient with us.
We ordered the chips and guac, the vegetarian tacos, and the quesadilla special. The guac was very average, the tacos quite bland and extremely overpriced, and the quesadilla very plain with an unappealing salsa. The waiter checked on us once and we expressed that the food was not up to our expectations, and he just walked away without asking how to improve our experience. Furthermore, he never refilled our water or asked if we wanted drinks. We had to flag down another worker to inquire about the menu and place our drink order. Other tables placed their orders, got their food, and left before we even had the chance to order. The service experience was quite disappointing. Furthermore, our server would constantly check on other tables and tell them to have a good night, but just gave us the check and walked away without another word. Utterly disappointing and will not be returning. You're better off going to any other Mexican restaurant- this place is a shame to Crazy Water's legacy.
Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian/ vegan options but they are not very exciting. Overpriced for vegetable based dishes that felt less thoughtful than the meat options.

The flavors of everything we’ve tried have always been incredible. We enjoyed it all - from the spiced sauces over the tacos, the pomegranate sweetened guacamole, and the different creamy moles. It’s just really good food.
