Cafe Lulu never disappoints. Service from Joel great. Both sandwiches excellent, Moroccan chicken very juicy. My companion loved her flank steak banh mi. I always get the terrific Asian slaw which is bountiful and so welcome an alternative to fries. This batched needed a hint more vinegar. Reasonably priced wine list. Pies are made in house. Took a piece of rhubarb home, delightful. Cozy atmosphere.

We like having a late lunch at LULUs in connection with a program and so did this for all 4 Matisse lectures. However the menu is too small for us to keep coming, especially because we don't eat meat. Your price fixe seems to always have a meat entree, often pork. We think there should always be a veggie/fish alternative to the meat, and that your overall menu should be somewhat larger without needing to be huge. If these things happened, we would dine with you more often.

This is my third and last visit to Lulu. Once a year I feel I should give it a try. It's always been overpriced. But the founders are not minding the store. Waters and Tanis- both of whom I admire- are nowhere to be found. The kitchen ran out of the only fish on the menu at 6:30! They subbed tiny scallops with a mush of potatoes and spinach in a tiny bowl for 37$. The salad for 27 was a head of butter lettuce broken up with tasteless dressing. Claudia Rosen whose name is on the cake should scramble to have her name taken off. I was then double charged for the meal (100 x 2) even after the server said she made a mistake and would correct. Each meal has been successively worse. I will never return and I love the Hammer and wish they would get a price friendlier thing going. It's a lovely spot. So sorry to have to post this negative review but I am quite put out!

Our third time here. Outstanding service, rib eye cooked exactly as ordered. No disappointment, all great.

Great food. Cozy atmosphere. We LOVE the Asian coleslaw side as well as the homemade chips with blue cheese dip! Variety of great menu options.

Something terrible has happened to Lulu The magical dining experience I so enjoyed has been dashed to ruins It's still beautiful and the service was friendly and professional but the choice of food was less than minimal and the size of the portions may have been poured from an eyedropper I had Snapper as the main course and even though the portion was the size of the small plates It was so awful that I could not finish it. Looking around at the packed tables looked like a page from the Emperor's New Clothes with everyone acting as though they hadn't been ripped off

It was a rainy night so Lulu's patio was closed. We sat huddled with other diners in the roofed part of the restaurant, with the lanterns glowing and the patio heaters keeping out the chill. This lent an air of intimacy to our dining, as did the fact that we often ran into the same lovely diners and waitstaff every visit. The maitre d' Nathan remembered my name and that I usually wear a big faux fur jacket. My friend and I ordered the lamb prix fixe, which mean we both also ate artful salads and delicious slices of almond cake. We got there at 6 and practically closed the place down. Also lovely: Alice Walters, looking beautiful and serene, sat at an adjacent table with her friends. Give me a choice for a stylish, lowkey LA dinner and I almost always choose Lulu.

Burger was a little over cooked but still juicy and delicious. Would highly recommend this place!

It was my second time there and I know I'll be back again, very soon I hope. The food is outstanding, you can't go wrong with anything you order. What a gem in the middle of LA.

EDIT: The restaurant reached out on their own to provide a refund, which for me signals they care about their guests on a system-wide level, even if my individual experience that night was poor. While I can't get my valentines dinner back, in my eyes they did what they could to make it right after the fact. I've adjusted my overall score from a 2 -> 4 and my service rating from a 2 -> 4. The original review is below: Original Review: Went here for Valentine's Day. Food was disappointing—bland at best and gross at worst. Steak was well-done and tough, lobster was incredibly difficult to cut and chewy. They were out of one of their two appetizers, AND they were out of bread. Not quite sure how that happens for a set menu with no cancellations. No free drink or anything as an apology for running out of everything. Full price was nearly $300 for two people, with one cocktail and an iced tea. Just a terrible value. Perhaps the worst part was that we had to get In-n-out after to fill up, and it tasted better than the actual meal.

The food was sub par and very overpriced. Did not meet expectations. The drink was also not good. Would not recommend
