What's really the point of they are either not ever open, don't have seating, or run out of food by noon? Put a little effort into it.

This place is not as great as people make it out to be. I got the chicken sandwich, our kids got a burger, and my husband got the double Swiss. The Swiss burger is good, but the chicken sandwich is nothing but sabpar. Won't get this again. It's not worth the hassle or the wait. Now we know not to come here again. Double-check pricing before going in. One website says one thing, and another says something completely different.

Best greasy burger ever, if you can ever get one. The place is so poorly managed they constantly run out of food by 1pm and they have to turn people away in the middle of lunch because they can't keep up with demand.

Once you get over the fact that it's called Nite Owl but closes in the mid-afternoon, the fact that they're only open seasonally, the fact that they are cash-only, the fact that the cute retro dining room is usually closed, and the fact that the fries are some kind of terrible Ore-Ida-adjacent crinkles, you free your mind up for what is still the absolute best burger in all of Milwaukee. I don't know what they do to make the beef. I don't know where they get it or how they chop it or season it, but whatever they do, it is mind-bendingly good. Add grilled onions for good measure. I have made an annual pilgrimage with a friend to this place and we are never disappointed by the burgers. I recommend driving across the street to eat in you car from the airport observation lot, where you can watch planes take off and land.

The mushroom and Swiss burger is mouth watering, could use a touch of salt and pepper. People complain about the hours. ? They are closed for the winter and open back up around late spring. There is always gonna be a line for lunch. You may end up waiting 30 to 45 minutes. Everything is made fresh. Once they run out of hamburger meat, they are closed for they day. That's how it has always been. The fries and onions used to be good but this season was below par. They have been in business for over 75 years. Parking is small. It's also cash only.

THE best mushroom and swiss on the planet, and I've tried them all. I've been coming here almost 10 years, and I look forward to every single visit. The owner is incredible. P.s., grilled onions take a phenomenal mushroom and swiss to a whole new level.

For many years numerous people have told me that I absolutely need to try the food at Night Owl because it's extremely delicious and it can only be bought once per year during the summer months. I always missed my chance. But, last week my girlfriend and I were finally able to try their burgers!I ordered 2 double cheeseburgers with lettuce and grilled onions. I was very surprised at how good they actually are! The patties were lightly seasoned compared to the others. And lacked that charbroiled goodness I love from Kopps. But, the burger was HUGE and juicy.I've always been eager to know how Night Owl stacked up against burgers from some of my favorite places which are; Kopps, Denny's, Portillo's, and Outback in that order with Kopps being the best. The night owl double cheeseburger is big, delicious, a tad bit on the greasier side for my liking. The patties were cooked medium rare with more pink in the middle than I'm comfortable with. So, overall, I ranked it 4th between Portillo's and Outback due to its mildly seasoned medium rare doneness and its size being on par with Portillo's. I never expect to see pink meat in my burger. Outbacks burgers are better seasoned. But, they're also the smallest of them all. So, Night Owl definitely won in that category. I look forward to trying Night Owl against. Perhaps it wasn't their best. But, I don't plan on throwing out the baby with the bath water, LOL. I'll definitely be going again next summer.

I have been trying to go here this year. This can be a real challenge when they are open 5 days for 2 or 3 hrs. 2 weeks ago they were closed on a Thursday. I was striking out driving up as they would be closed. Started calling and ordering and that seemed like the better way. Called today at 12:20 and got a busy signal (which means they are sold out). Time to change the name to day owl. One wonders if there is a next generation or are they easing themselves into retirement. I'm pretty much giving up on the place.

I finally made it to the legendary Night Owl after moving to the 414 four years ago. I had the cheeseburger with the works (mustard, ketchup, grilled onions, pickles) and it was generously sized and very tasty! This is a busy little place and there is a bit of a wait for your order, but they do have a sign posted asking for your patience which was cool. Minus a star only for the fact that the sit down area is closed and I had to sit on the curb to eat. I'll definitely be back soon!

Where's the burger from the years past. Where's the grease? It WAS the best burger ever. We wait all winter and then when you did open we were sadly disappointed. I stopped the owner one day and asked about it. He told me no nothing has changed and if I didn't like it don't buy it. So I haven't gone back and neither have all the people I told about how great it was in the good old days.

A Milwaukee legend across from the airport on Layton. Only open in summer. They close for the day when they run out of food so go earlier than later. Cash only. You will not be disappointed.

They have Good food. We have been going here for Years. However they need to sweep up all the gravel in their parking lot because I am tired of almost dropping my motorcycle when I rode there and they need to fix the potholes in their parking lot too like other businesses do. The also need to open their dining room back
