I didn’t eat anything here. Actually just popped in to meet up with colleagues before a Bucks game. Grabbed a Dunkel and got to know new business associates. Loved this little place. The Nail Game was going on in the back dining area. The bar has personal steins for the regulars.

Wanted to like it way more than I did. Got the platter, and all the sides just kind of bled into each other.

Pretzel was delicious though

One of the bars I always take friends to when visiting MKE. Throw together amazing German Bier, Usinger's Fine Sausage, live music and perfectly worn edges that make it instantly comfortable, this is a fun stop on a Milwaukee Bar tour.

They have amazing beer here, I just wished they had more vegetarian or seafood options but I guess that's just my dietary restriction. Lots of fun trying to hit the nail into the stump,

I was in town for 1 night and my hotel told me about a German restaurant that was more touristy and expensive. I walked past it and found my heaven. Old German beer hall. They had Dunkel which is my favorite beer so 1.5 liters was consumed and a brat platter which was amazing down to the rye bread and butter. Atmosphere is an old beer hall and the staff and patrons were super friendly.

If you like original German beer and food this is the place in Milwaukee downtown. The service was fast, but also it was not busy at all in the afternoon, ambience was super chill.

The food is good but service there's a lot to be desired. I get that there is hardly any staff.....but no 2 bite 2 minute check back?? Had to go in to ask for water refill.

Parking: Parking is pretty awful between them metered parking which the parking clown cops are relentless and the construction

The restaurant could be 4 stars for me. It has a great authentic German atmosphere, with decorations that really took me back home. The original Hofbräuhaus beer was a definite plus—it tasted just like it does in Germany. The food was OK, pretzel was good, reasonably priced. What really brought it down was the automatic twenty percent gratuity paired with mediocre service. Additionally, the receipt requested a further tip without clearly mentioning that 20% gratuity was already included. It felt like the staff didn't try, knowing their tip was guaranteed. The owners might want to rethink this approach if they want happier customers.

If you can get past the loud banging of the nails into the tree stump in the main dining area, and if you can handle the loud, fun German music blasting from the live band - there was no greater stop we had on our trip up to Milwaukee than the fun we had here.

We came on a Saturday night to a lively German restaurant with great food, great music, and an amazing manager named Olivia. We had a small table and we had ordered the pretzel, some schnitzel, and one of the wurst platters - nothing we had was bad. Everything you could tell was fresh, and the taste seemed authentic to what I would expect to find in the heart of Germany.

There aren't a lot of other details to give other than just that the location, albeit a little hard to find among the other bars, will give you a lively; very fun, dining experience. We *will* be going back for Oktoberfest.
