Enjoyed this little ice cream shop, it was good! Highly suggested if in that area.
The best in Wisconsin
Purple Door is wonderful. Great ice cream, nice staff, and honestly the lines aren't crazy long as long as (lol) you don't go on like the first warm day of the year. Get the waffle cone-- it's worth it.
HOWEVER, I do have some feedback as someone who eats a ridiculous amount of ice cream.
1. More chunks
I am a lover of ice cream that is basically just chunks of other desserts held together by ice cream. I would love to see a bigger variety of ice cream with chunks and swirls of jams and such in it. For instance, I recently tried the brandy old fashioned flavor. It was acceptable. But imagine it with a black cherry ripple ? Now you're talking. The milk n cookies is a wonderful example of PD's ability to do add in flavors-- the concept of not just cookie dough or cookie ice cream but a milky base with chocolate chip cookies added in? Phenomenal. Exceptional. No notes. Would love to see a little more chunk / swirl/ etc happening!
2. The one chunk i hated
I'm also a huge fan of corn desserts, such as corn milk lattes and corn ice cream. However, the sweet corn flavor is not for me. They add sweet corn and rather than strain out the pulp, they leave it in. I understand keeping a few corn pieces here and there, but I would love a corn bread flavor instead (see van leuweens corn bread and berries ice cream). I notice a lot of their fruit flavors tend to use whole fruit or veg (In the corn case) and I believe this is apart of their mission to use minimally processed ingredients, but the corn experience was off putting to say the least.
3. Bring back the olive oil flavor please
Overall I love Purple Door but I need to make my voice heard. Lol. this is all in good fun. I love this ice cream so much, truly!!!
Tremendously delicious ice cream. So many people want to try custard when they come to Milwaukee, but I encourage you to check out Purple Door ice cream. Their ice cream is absolutely fantastic and there’s such a nice variety of flavors. The staff is very customer oriented and will be glad to provide you with a sample taste of any of their flavors. Staff is also great at making recommendations.
You can't beat this Ice Cream!
We catered a few hundred ice cream sandwiches for our wedding. They were DELICIOUS!! There wasn’t a flavor combo that we didn’t like. Dawn from the catering department is an absolute rock star and made the process so easy and friendly!! Don’t sleep on ice cream as a wedding dessert! 😍😉
The chocolates ice cream
And home made waffle cones were 19/10
It's just great! What more is there to say? Kinda reminds me of crumbl cookies but ice cream and fewer calories
Wayyy too political. Okay ice cream tho.
Super fun outing for everyone! Loved the salted honey, purple moon and vegan dark chocolate scoops

The store has a great selection of ice cream to purchase. The staff is very friendly and helpful with what you order. The store is clean and has a way for you to enter in and exit out. There were outdoor benches and tables and chairs to sit at to enjoy your ice cream. I highly recommend.
We came here on with a tour guide and the employee was super sweet! The ice cream, delicious!
The pecans were stale but the ice cream was pretty good!
Nice spot with some great vegan options
Purple Door Ice Cream is amazing! One of the highlights is being able to watch the ice cream being made right through the glass window—it was such a fun and unique experience. The staff were very friendly, and the ice cream itself was high quality, not overly sweet, and generously packed with fresh ingredients. With so many flavors to choose from, every bite felt special. Just thinking about the visit brings back such a joyful memory, and I can’t wait to go again!
