Visited Milwaukee for the day and had a great time at Rod-n-Makk. Friendly service, delicious and filling food, and while the Market Hall has a lot of unique restaurants, Rod-n-Makk's decor really took the cake! Super nostalgic, fun decor drew me in but the food would keep me coming back.

A lot of places in the market hall are hit and miss. Rod-n-Makk hits every single time. Every time they're friendly. Every time it's a short wait. Every time the food is bomb.

Pieces are reasonable. My go to place in the market hall. Always coming back.

45 minutes for a flavorless meme of a mozz stick. Having 2 people working at 6pm the first day of 12,000 people at a convention a block away is unacceptable by management. I do not blame the employees for this. They were trying so hard, but how dumb can you be to not know this was going to happen?

Our mozzarella was burned and left a bad taste in your mouth. However, if you just ate the cheese it was solid.

Everything is appealing visually, really cool little spot, upset they falsely advertise the jalapeño poppers. On the menu it says the jalapeño poppers have mozzarella, deep fried bacon wrapped jalapeño, but it's literally a frozen jalapeño popper with cream cheese, no bacon at all, and no mozz, sure it's a jalapeño popper but it isn't what they advertise. Also the Cajun lobster mack is mid, lobster is real fishy and probably canned or bagged unsurprisingly, it's probably my fault for getting that one but overall I probably won't be going back to this place especially with all the other good options in 3rd street market.

SO GOOD. Can't remember the name of the macs we purchased. One had lobster, the other had garlic parmesan. Huge portions. Food fresh and so flavorful. Also loved the spicy lightning rod. Can't wait to visit again.

Fun little spot with arcade games. Foot long cheese stick was actually good and not just a gimmick. Regular Mac and cheese was just ok though. Bland cheese without much seasoning or taste. Service took a long while. They were slammed but multiple employees kept walking away leaving only one person to work who looked very annoyed.

Having traveled to MKE to visit with friends and sample the city, I had done some research and found Alphonso’s Lightning Rods and knew I had to have one. It was sheer dumb luck I walked into the market and found this joint, otherwise I would have paid through the nose for delivery or travel.

The counter was a little empty while they were busy doing delivery orders, but a guy jumped to the register pretty quick and got our order in. The location is nice, and the decor is fun, lots of nerdy collectibles etc.

We took the rods back to the hotel, and so they did cool down, but they still had some good stretch left in the cheese, and they tasted like a balanced mozz cheese stick. Maybe not the best I ever had, but theres something to be said about the gimmick.

Their marinara sauce, however, was super sweet and had a strong flavor of oregano and general Italian seasoning. Could probably do with some work though.

Overall, good for the meme. If you bring friends to MKE, grab a rod.

We only tried the Lightning Rod mozzarella stick and didn't realize how big and thick it was. It was delicious, but it took 4 of us to polish it down! We're looking forward to trying more of their menu.

Mac and cheese lacked flavor and noodles were overcooked

Menu says Jalapeño poppers have bacon and mozzarella in them. Not true. They are just cooking poppers they bought from a supplier with cream cheese in them . Don’t buy them and think the menu is correct.
