Smokin’ Jack's BBQ (3rd St. Market Hall)

Got tips for take out. About one third were chunks of bone with no meat. Pretty much a bummer for $20+.

Food is great. Thought it odd that I was unable to order their '2 meat' combo plate with 2 servings of brisket. Does not make sense to me. What's the difference if I order it with a serving of brisket and serving of another meat or two servings of brisket.

Came here for lunch on Friday, and it was great. I got the Hog 1860 sandwich with coleslaw and it was amazing. I can't remember having a better pork sandwich. All the toppings balanced each other out so well. The coleslaw by itself was also good, just a touch sweet, and not too much vinegar.

Taste of the food is great, staff and service is fast and friendly, but the prices are absolutely bonkers for what you get. A meat platter comes with skimpy meat portions and two small sauce cups for your sides. For $10 I would have expected a container of fries not a tiny basket equivalent to a McDonalds medium.

My first time visiting Milwaukee, and my hotel happened to be attached to the 3rd Street Market Hall. Very cool place overall...but let me tell you something… Jack’s Bar-B-Q absolutely stole the show.

I’ve traveled plenty and tasted a whole lot of BBQ in my life, but The Smokin’ Bird is, without question, the BEST chicken BBQ sandwich I have ever had. The flavor is unreal. You get that deep smokiness, the seasoning is perfection, and the coleslaw they pile on top is a straight-up chef’s kiss. Trust me...do not skip the slaw.

And the bun? They grill it, and even that has flavor.

I’m from Ohio, and I would literally book a flight back to Milwaukee just for that sandwich. I had one for lunch, went back for another at dinner, and I’m already planning to grab a couple more tomorrow for the ride home.

If you’re anywhere near Milwaukee, do yourself a favor and get The Smokin’ Bird. You can thank me later.

If you are in the market hall, definitely try this place. I was with my wife daughter and another couple with kids who went and got wraps at another place for $15. I saw this place where I could get a 2 meat combo 2 sides and a piece of bread for $20 so i decided I would eat here. When I went to order i changed my mind and went with the 3 meat combo for $25 instead. It was definitely worth it. I had the rib tip, pulled pork, brisket and potatoe salad for a side. When I got to my wife and the other couple they said how good my food looked since I ordered the meat combo, I had enough to let them try a little. My wife and the other couple loved it. This place is in line with some of the best BBQ I have had in Texas. The price can seem high but it's BBQ and it's always expensive. But when you compare the price to a lot of the other food places in there, it's a good deal. Definitely try this place out.

Took my wife and daughter to the newly opened Eastside location. We had the brisket, smoked gouda mac and cheese and smoked beans. The brisket was delicious and very tender. The sides were tier 1 also. The owner and chef came out to greet us. All in all a great experience!

Sami has excellent customer service & Deon made my meal to perfection. This is my second visit and I ordered the Smokey Bird both times & I can’t get the taste off my tastebuds ….. it was that good!

Update: I updated my rating due to a recent experience after making this review months ago. During my last visit, my order was made wrong & was not good like the countless other times I ate there. There was a new cook & a new lady taking orders who was very rude. The interaction happened months ago but it left a lasting impression because she identified herself as part owner. In that moment I regretted every penny I had ever spent because she was so rude & nasty just because she was part owner but forgot it was my money that supported her business everyday it was empty. This business hardly gets customers during the day & now I get it. It’s not the food it’s the people that own it that have a bad juju.

From appetizers to desserts, this restaurant exceeded all our expectations! Our family especially enjoyed the signature meats (chicken wings, bbq pulled pork, beef brisket, the variety of side dishes and The Peach 🍑 cobbler with vanilla ice cream on top was a crowd-pleaser! Highly recommended!”

Had a BBQ rice bowl with brisket and truffle fries. Everything was delicious and had me wanting more, especially the strawberry lemonade. I'll definitely be returning!!
