I absolutely LOVE Solly’s butter burgers no one can even come close. I’ve been eating Solly’s Burgers since 1991. I no longer live in Milwaukee but every time I come to town I have Solly’s and I order extras for the trip back to California. I recently heard about the potential sale of the business and panicked. I placed an order for my Mom to pick up and send to me. I love them sooo much. And I don’t even eat meat like that anymore. They freeze well and reheat in a toaster oven or regular oven well. I pray they are able to find a buyer that will maintain the business as it is now.

Wisconsin is winning! Up the street from Sprecher (spelling) brewery is one of the best butter burgers in the state. The staff is friendly, people of all ages and races enjoying their (crispy) friend and tasty burgers in a soda shop type setting. Awesome.

What a wonderful place serving the epitome of a butter burger. The burger gets roughly 4-6 Tbsp of butter and you can absolutely tell that it's there. There's a similarity that I can make between eating a silly burger and having a wagyu steak if you have before. There's so much fat here that you're clearly going to feel overwhelmed when eating these burgers. Not only because of that but how good that that much butter actually makes these burgers. The service was slow, the grill cook is in no hurry and at the time we were there they did one order at a time which was odd. The grill had room for all the people in the house/bar at once but only took one order, cooked and served, then another. We showed up during lunch on a weekday and it was somewhat busy. It's very well worth stopping to try a burger out and then head to sprecher and Kopps which is nearby.

The burger is ok, a little too much butter for my liking, especially if you're a visitor from out of town. The locals will tell you that you need to ask for light butter. The cheese curds were excellent, which I have come to expect when traveling through Wisconsin. Having dang red cream soda on tap was also a plus. Very friendly staff, excellent conversation when seated at the bar.

Solly's is known for their butter burgers. If you are not from Milwaukee, you likely have no idea what a butter burger is. Well... the name is the description. A burger slathered with butter. This place is actually a Milwaukee landmark. When you just want a great burger, fries and malt, this is it. Don't expect some gormet, fancy burger. It's a more of a diner feel reminded me of the show Roseann when she had her diner had the same layout lol...A definitely must try at least once when you visit Milwaukee. 100% recommend!

What a fabulous find. We were SO glad we chose this place. We will likely be back for breakfast tomorrow but most DEFINITELY coming back for dinner. Blown away by the deliciousness of the burgers. McKenzie was a stellar server and her co-workers seemed to be doing a phenomenal job as well. I hear this place is looking for a buyer and 1) I wish I had the means to carry on this incredibe legacy, 2) I sincerely BEG the future owners to not change a single thing. I only wish I lived closer, I guess I'll be road-tripping back for truly delicious burgers.
Noteworthy: in my opinion, it would be difficult/cumbersome to dine here with small children since the seating is diner style and not compatible with booster seats or restaurant style high chairs.
Bottom line: don't hesitate, go eat here sooner than later!
