Over priced over priced over priced! For $8.25 the burger was as thick as a butter knife...not much meat there and sodas refills were full priced ...$2.95 per 10oz glass! Definitely not going back!!

I am for the most part a vegetarian, but will flex and eat meat occasionally. I very rarely eat red meat, saving it for when you're at a place where you get the beef. This is one of those times. I had heard of butter burgers before and was thrilled to have the opportunity to eat one where they were invented. I arrived in the early afternoon on a Monday and there were only a couple other people there. The restaurant has an interesting layout with a curved counter in the center that is most of the seating (with some other tables on the side). I opted to sit at the counter so the server wouldn't have to go out of his way to get to me. I went basic: double butter burger with some fries on the side, opting for regular butter. My server was super friendly and walked me through everything, and I found the history of the burger and the restaurant on the menu interesting. The burger was great. The butter was SO creamy and the whole thing melted in my mouth. It was worth the flex! I also really enjoyed the fries: super crispy. I liked that I could watch my food being made in front of me. I'm glad I got to experience the real thing! Worth the stop when you're in town. It's clear they have a lot of love from locals and foodies alike.

My first memory of eating at Solly's is 1972. I came here with my dad and brother during my sister's sweet-16 party. I've eaten here dozens of times and it never disappoints. But today!!!! - I will try the brand new double decker "Big Boy" burger for the very first time - Let's GO!!!

Run for your life unless you want the WELL DONE food police telling you how you want your food cooked and how they want you eat it.If I wanted well done overcooked hockey puck hamburger patties I would eat fast food. So sad...a potential landmark dining experience destroyed by the Solly's grille guy who shouts "NO!' when I request hamburgers cooked rare or medium rare...wow...so much for customer service.I can even ignore the fact that they shovel ice for drinks out of a make-shift file cabinet (I kid you not)...go check for yousrlf...definitely not NCF certified with or without a stainless liner.I never said it wasn't fresh sirloin... I merely said you have the nerve and unmitigated gall to tell me how to want me eat it and long you want my food cooked.I do not eat overcooked grey brown WELL DONE cooked to death hockey pucks...leave that fast food at McDs and Five Guys.

A cozy atmosphere with the best burgers! Sure, there's butter.. but it's not a requirement. The crinkle fries are perfect for dipping in their "sassy" sauce aka aioli, and their milkshakes are the BEST! They use real Wisconsin butter, not the fake stuff. This is the perfect spot for that cheat meal ;) Oh and if you like onions.. their secret stewed onions on the burger are a must have!

Very expensive; our party of 4 (2x super cheese w/fries, 2x regular cheese no fries, 2x cheese curds, 4x chocolate shake) came out to $115 with tip. The bun is very low quality (very airy, had no chew to it, not toasted, seemed like a supermarket bun). The burger was not charbroiled, not much seasoning, very little taste. The butter is the feature and it was only "ok". Fries were nothing special. Cheese curds were only "ok", nothing special. Not likely to return. The place was pretty busy, so I guess others like it. They only have counter/diner seating; I'd estimate only about 24 seats total.

Went to Solly’s for the first time. We ordered the Glendale burger, onion rings and a grilled cheese sandwich. Everything was amazing.Kid-friendliness: Ordered a grilled cheese for my nine-year-old granddaughter, this is offered for kids. Just ask!

When you hear 'butter burger', you most likely think of a popular, Wisconsin-based fast food chain. I have lived in Milwaukee all my life and had NO IDEA that Solly's Grille was the actual birthplace of the majestic butter burger. My fiancé and I came here for the first time yesterday to try the original butter burger. When you first walk in, you almost feel like you're transported back in time. The interior is very 70's-esque, but in the best way possible...almost like someone took the bottom level of their home and turned it into a diner. All of the employees here, from the hostesses to the wait staff and cooks, are some of the kindest people I've met at a restaurant in years. i feel like since COVID happened in 2020, good service is something that most places have lost sight of, but not here at Solly's. It truly feels like the entire crew is a family and they're welcoming you into their family. The food...OMG the burgers are WONDERFUL! I was a bit worried that the butter would be too much for me, but it melted so perfectly into the hot patty and bun and created one of the most unique burgers I've ever eaten. The fries and sassy sauce were great too. Piping hot and fresh!Long story short, if my arteries could hold up to it, I'd eat here all the time. My fiancé and I will definitely be back!
