The bar’s location is on my way to other places like Fluid and Walker’s pint. Back in 2021, I was being re-introduced to the Milwaukee LGBTQ+ community after living in Denver for the past 8 years. Before leaving, I volunteered at the AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin, helped organize the gay softball World Series in 2009, and also volunteered at American Family Field for the LGBTQ+ softball league SSBL. I ran into this bar walking from Woodys to Walkers Pint. I walked in and was greeted by the bartender, Charlie. I recently parted ways with some of my gay “bar friends” and needed a change of scenery. Not knowing my story Charlie made conversation and made me feel welcome. In about 7-8 minutes meeting Charlie, he knew I happened to be gay. Since then I make it a point when friends visit for pride I take them to this place. All of the bartenders have always treated me with great respect and I enjoy the atmosphere. With me standing tall at 4’9” I’m happy to visit this inclusive place where I’ve happened to develop friendships with people who happen to be straight, oh and people who happen to be gay as well.

Walked in with two of my friends (we’ve been coming here a couple of times a week for months), and a bartender we had previously been very cordial with suddenly asked all of us for our IDs. I’m 33, clearly above 21 (as are my friends). We happily complied (I even made a joke about feeling young), and ordered our drinks. He asked us if we wanted to open or close the card. While we were trying to figure it out, he makes a loud, slick-ass comment about how he’s only closing the card once, so we need to decide. I called him out for being rude, and he said under his breath, “I’m not serving these fa@@0+$.” After we said that we could pay with another card if necessary for a second transaction, he said the credit card processing fees were too high, and acted like it was personally coming out of his check. He was embarrassed because we called him out for being rude and homophobic, so he dumped out our drinks and told us to go. We were stunned and didn’t put up any resistance, but the bartender had to make one more slick-ass remark about not worrying about pushing in the chairs as we left because “that’s my job”. We have spent hundreds at this bar over the past couple of months because I was trying to avoid my ex, but we will NEVER be back to this bar unless they get rid of that homophobic bartender.

Typical dive bar atmosphere, great drink prices and the bartender Jeff was amazing. He was super personable and was willing to chat with anyone. Highly recommend this bar for a fun night out or quick stop. We stopped for “one” and ended up staying for a few.
