The Vanguard never disappoints. The food is excellent, staff is welcoming and super friendly, and the music is loud and awesome.

We stopped on our way home for a quick lunch here. It was a pleasant surprise. The service is quick and polite And check back often to see if you need a refill ECT. The menu is basically Brats with a few exceptions. But don't be turned off by the mostly brats description, there are lamb, turkey, Italian And mixtures of meat brats. They are prepared and served with dressing put together by the chef specialized for each flavor brat. A truly inspiring mix of herbs ,greens and dressings that make a simple brat meal a culinary experience. The restaurant it self is very basic in style and decor, with a long bar running down one side. The mixed drinks on draught are very good and worth a try as well.

We came here recently with our two young kids. The host sat us in the back, which was good because it's a pretty lively place and the kids are still easily distracted, especially during dinner time. In any case everyone loved the food. I think it was my third time here and it's been consistently good. The sausages are of high quality with interesting toppings. There's a small variety of comforting sides, my favorites probably being the poutine (though I haven't tried the mushroom version) and loaded fries. The service was great - our server was accommodating and patient and made the experience all the better.

Great little spot-hot dogs, sausages, vegan options, draft cocktails (potent af)The tofu is so good. Get the poutine. get the brussels sprouts. You can get a chicago dog. I may or may not be drunk writing this review, this place slaps though. The people who work here are cool & super nice. Great place to take a friend or a date, the vibes are immaculate. Thanks y'all.

Not sure how I didn't have my review posted yet, but here it is. I had to fly into Milwaukee to pick up a bike and used that as an excuse to make a visit to the Vanguard. Got a bratwurst with kraut, relish and onions, cheese curds on the side. Really good, although the cold bun caught me by surprise. Definitely delicious.

Stopped in for a bite to eat while we were in Milwaukee. Felt like it took awhile to get seated. Once seated, it took even longer for the waiter to take our order. We ordered the poutine and a sausage dog. Food was okay at its best. Not super impressed unfortunately.

As a lesbian, these are the only cylindrical meats I want in my mouth! Simple but delicious flavors that will take you to a new plane of existence, like an orgasm for your mouth AND your brain. I got the chicago style brat and sweet Jesus tap-dancing Christ on a cracker in a sidecar, it was sooooooooo goood ?I'm definitely coming back! With the good there is some bad though... This place does have communal seating and it is a bit loud but the food is worth it a million times over. There is also the issue of accessibility where the front entrance is not handicap accessible nor did I see a sign that indicated if, and where, there was an accessible entranceParking: Had to walk a block and a half but that wasn't too bad ?‍♀️Wheelchair accessibility: There is also the issue of accessibility where the front entrance is not handicap accessible nor did I see a sign that indicated if, and where, there was an accessible entrance

Everyone loved the food, enjoyed the dining space and had great service from Chris. Pictured are the Thai Breaker (with vegan brat) and we shared the Burnt Ginger Tofu - both were delicious. Oh, we also shared the cheese curds, yum! Others with me had bloody marys and they said they were really great as well. Great prices too!Go there.Vegetarian options: Nearly everything has a vegetarian or vegan option. So great to have such a friendly menu!

This place is all about sausages. Great service, nothing special about the atmosphere, great Bloody Mary.I had the Mustafa, which is a chicken sausage with fiery feta and a great Tahini sauce. The fixings were great, the sausage a little mushy, maybe that's how chicken sausage is?I was with my vegetarian niece who had the Thai Breaker and loved it.As an app, we had a tofu burnt ginger thing. The glaze was amazing, I'm just not a big fan of tufo, would love to try it with chicken.I really liked this place and look forward to going back and exploring their menu.
