Our thanks to Allison, Michelle & Brandon for a FABULOUS evening! We were welcomed as if we were neighbors with smiles and hugs! The ambience is comfortably classy - the bar is BEAUTIFUL! Every cocktail Michelle for our group was perfectly crafted and delicious, beautiful and some even sparkly! Our group of 7 thoroughly enjoyed steak tartar (MMMM) stuffed dates, chicken liver mousse and autumn salad followed by the tenderloin (perfectly seasoned and cooked, Allison's own recipe - pork schnitzel and cabbage was crispy and tender. We cannot say enough about the food! But, the ambience and service were above and beyond expectations! Thanks to all for a memorable experience!
Not what we expected. Very limited menu (and different from what was online that day). Only two filet dishes left even though we were only diners in restaurant and came very early (before 6pm). Food was just OK and price was somewhat high. Service was pleasant but at time seemed indifferent.
We ha d a large group and I booked through open table for Saturday brunch. We didn't know they didn't open on Saturdays for brunch until we left after the meal. The staff came in for us. The drinks were fantastic, the food was even better. The two women who cooked and served us were so nice. The restaurant is in a building from the 1800s so we loved the ambience. All in all we totally enjoyed the experience and would put this on the “don't miss” list.
The food was very delicious, however the portion size was so small for how much it cost. The $15 dates appetizer came with three dates and the steak was around $38 if I remember correct and you got a couple bites worth. Drinks were good, but also super tiny
My dad got married here and it was lovely! The staff went over and above to make it the best day. The owner Allison is amazing and all the staff was so helpful, especially Amy. I highly recommend for anyone planning a wedding or event!!!
Went for brunch with a large group. Ambiance indoors is very nice, and they have a very cute outdoor area as well. The cocktail I tried (coconut and pineapple) was very good and looked nice as well (can say the same for the other cocktails at the table). There were a couple of minor issues with our order (asked for cheese in omelet, came without, eggs ordered one way and served another), but the food was very good (definitely recommend the mushroom omelette) and everyone enjoyed their meal. Would absolutely return for brunch.
The ambiance and atmosphere of this place is absolutely amazing. Live plants everywhere and a fabulous patio where wildflowers and fresh herbs are grown for use in drinks and dishes. The cocktails are beautifully crafted and the staff was outstanding.
This was my second visit in the last two weeks and it was just as spectacular as the first. The food and cocktails were great and our server/bartender was outstanding. This is by far my new favorite place.
Wonderful continuation of the prior ownership in terms of neighborhood historic decor but in appropriate sage green. Our spread appetizers were delicious but we had to request additional crackers for each - the portion size of the goat cheese appetizer could have been more generous, as well as the home made basil ice cream. The trout entree and specialty Moroccan beef sit were savory. The service was excellent.
We had a great experience at Sage. A very warm and welcoming place with a wonderful staff started our evening. The food was very tasty and great vibe. It made me miss Bayview. I ordered their burger, which I would eat again and again, and my partner has the risotto.
Restaurantji Recommends
Food choices are somewhat limited but the served foods presentation and taste was very good. Enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere and the attention from staff was first rate. The parking lot is adjacent to the restaurant and very convenient. The outdoor dining space is excellent and has abundant greenery and flowers. Highly recommended.
This may be one of my top five worst restaurant experiences ever. In fairness, it was Mother's Day and they were very busy, but busy or not, I did expect far better than what we received. I had a reservation for five people at 1:15PM. We arrived at 1:05 PM and at 1:30 PM, we still hadn't been sat. At 1:35 PM, the host takes us to a small square two seater table and says that she's going to go get more chairs. We declined that table and asked to wait to be seated outside. Five minutes later, they take us to a table outside that had not been set, the water bottles were mostly empty, implying that they were there from the last party, and the tables were dirty. Any other day of the year, we probably would have left by now, but it was hard to get a table anywhere due to it being Mother's Day. We decided to tough it out and prayed that the food would make up for the poor service experience. Unfortunately, it did not... Our pancakes and eggs were cold, they had run out of tumblers, so the glasses they used for our juice were slightly larger than a shot glass... Our medium well burger was completely pink on the inside, and all of this is after waiting 30 minutes to get the food. This was a horrible experience, and even worse, the staff was not apologetic about any of it. My wife and mom were good sports about it... didn't give me a hard time about the choice of restaurant, but it was not a good Mother's Day celebration. I would not recommend this place at all!
Funky and delicious, I sadly never made it to the White House, but Sage feels like it's been there forever. Food was delish and the drinks (including NA cocktails) were outstanding.
While I loved the ambiance and the space, I was not impressed with my overall experience. I wanted to love it and was so excited to try this new restaurant in MKE. The food is overpriced for the amount of food we got (risotto especially) and we were just not impressed or had a yum!! moment when it came to the taste of both the food and cocktails. Everything tasted OK, but again nothing I would come back for or recommend to others. If the menu changes, I would be willing to try again. Will say the service was great, super quick and attentive staff!
What a gem of a restaurant in Bay View. Cozy atmosphere, exceptional food, and amazing drinks. The music was just right, and each dish, from the corn and mushrooms appetizer to the hanger steak and basil ice cream, was amazing. A must-visit for anyone seeking an excellent dining experience!
