This is a tough review to write because usually I’ll say the food was so so but the service was amazing so it balances out. In this case, the service was so so and the food was the shining moment
We sat at the bar - so 1/2 of star up since it’s busy and I don’t expect amazing service since they are running around taking care of others. But the main bartender (guy) sat and talked to this one couple all night. Giving them prime attention and free shots.
The pasta alla bolognese was very, very good. Deep flavor and fresh pasta. Caprese to start was fresh
The 2 wines were both good options. Brunello and Barolo.

All 4 dinners were excellent. We got what i think was scam before the dinner telling us there would not be a valet on duty. Yet there was. Weird excuse about staff and the neighborhood. People looking to scam a great restaurant.
Our first trip to Zarlettis downtown Milwaukee was very enjoyable. My husband and I celebrated our 38th anniversary here and were greeted with two glasses of complimentary champagne. Very nice touch. Our server was outstanding and made sure we were taken care of at all times. I chose the bolagnese with the housemade papparadelle pasta. So deliscious! Hubby had the short ribs over risotto and they were outstanding. We also shared a pancetta shrimp skewer, a pear gorgonzola salad and had the creamy chickpea soup. A very nice meal followed by a shared house made tiramisu. I would put this one in my top 5 list and I eat tiramisu every chance I get when available. We also were served bread with traditional olive oil, pepper and parmesan. Given it was a celebration we also enjoyed a nice bottle of pinot grigio and a barolo special red. The restaurant was cozy and perfect for our celebration. Thanks to all the staff for treating us so well. We would visit again for sure!
Perhaps the pasta is good but the veal I had was like shoe leather and my wife's chicken was only slightly better...really terrible food and a bit expensive

Outstanding as always. Last night the ravioli was pure perfection. Our go to for excellence.
Amazing waiter and food. Was seated right next to a family in an empty restaurant is my only complaint besides the bread and olive oil being very lack luster. Definitely recommended and still drooling over the pasta

Zarlettis was good, but I wasn’t as blown away as I was expecting to be.
The bruschetta appetizer was mediocre, bread was like toasted grocery store bread. The tomato was crisp and fresh.
Mushroom arancini was quite tasty but not sure I’d order again.
Lamb ragu pasta was very good, no notes.
Butternut squash and sage butter ravioli needed some work. It wasnt bad, but the pasta to filling ratio was off , the filling itself was somewhat bland, and the sage butter did not come through very well.
The drinks were great! Service was great!
All and all, not a BAD meal by any means, but for the price point and hype… I won’t lie I was expecting near perfection.

Truly exceptional experience! My wife and I celebrated our anniversary dinner at the bar in 2025 and were treated like royalty. Not only was the food outstanding, our bartender’s knowledge of the wine, food and culture was only outdone by his charisma. Safe bet you’ll have a good time here.

Our waiter David was delightful and the food was good. A patron that was not eating at the establishment came into the restaurant and was galavanting around the restaurant and interrupting the staff. He stood behind our table talking to another table for over twenty minutes making our waiter unable to access us. The man ordered shots and made a cheers to the entire restaurant. When we did not participate enough to the man's liking he interrupted our dinner and told us to tell the girl at the table happy birthday. The staff was welcoming and very tolerant of the man being blatantly disrespectful and arrogant for what was the majority of our dinner. Once again our waiter was fabulous and the experience was tarnished due to the disruptive relationships the restaurant tolerates in their establishment.
