Mom I want fish fry. Let's go out with our weekend family. We walked in on a Friday night and received the worst service ever which is most likely due to we didn't get any service. We came in and the place was full but not overly packed like most places on a Friday night fish fry in WI. One of the employees immediately covered the pool table as our boys began to play pool okay fine no big deal they went to darts. Secondly my husband and my friends husband go to the bar to order drinks where they were denied service. I mean at one point they were told we'll be right with you but that never happened. Another employee continually shoved past our husbands bumping them and not even saying excuae me. I have lived in WI for about 10 years and in Deforest about 7 1/2. I have traveled all over the state of WI I mean from Rock, Beloit to Superior and everything inbetween and I have never experienced the level of disrespect, racism and fear of the safety of my child and family. My friends/family that we traveled with are Caucasian and they have visited this establishment a few times and have never experienced this. I mean it is 2025 are people really still racist? I mean my family is very well known in the community and everyone who knows us know we are not a rowdy or problematic family. This experienced was very hurtful and unnecessary. I nor my family will ever visit this establishment again. I hope and pray this review reaches the proper party and they look at how the employees are treating customers and something is done to make any future experiences better for others.
The cottage cheese was fabulous.
Happy atmosphere, very friendly group of people, and staff ( bartender) very attentive.

To begin with it's easy to find. Right on the main drag, next to the Post Office.Ample free parking close to the building and some with shade Outside has a bad zpond smell which permeates to kthe walking area. Stong enough that it weekend my appetite. Service was not friendly. Crowd is 55+The kitchen area is clean and the cook is neatly dressed. The food is very reasonable priced. Exceptional might be a better term Quanity of food is off the chart. If only they used Gaiv bread on some of their sandwiches (That's a hint to them
Every day has theme Tuesday is Mexican. I was impressed by the size and taste.I would say not typical Mexican but American kust incredible The sSteak sandwich is oval.with French Dipping sauce Fantastic plain. French Fries come in 3 varies. All wee over cooked. They missed it here. They do not have an online menu posted they do need a website.French dip is pretty good. Buy I think it taste the same no matter where you get. Hamburgers and Cheesebugetd are one of the better bargains in the Badger State But Bear in mind very slow service for a bar. Rhe Bar stool are quite uncomfortable. The place needs some ambience nothing stands out.Maybe some Cool Frog Pind T shirts would be a nice touch

We had the BEST fish fry we have had YET in Wisconsin here, at this little middle of the farm fields local watering hole. We sat at the bar and met a regular, and he was the chillest guy we met that night- he'd been there regularly for over ten years, and nobody took his seat. Definitely making it a return every two weeks when it fits our budget for the best fish fry we have had in awhile...And we're both Wisconsin residents!

We had a baseball tournament right in DeForest, wanted to get out of the sun for a little bit, so we stopped for a couple drinks. Bartender was amazing, and took care of us just as well as the regulars. When we left to go back to the field, we were trying to figure out a place for dinner with the rest of our group. That's when we said let's go back to The Frog Pond. We came in and had some more drinks and dinner. Food was good and hot when it came out. Bartender that night was also great! She made sure we were very well taken care of.A lot of small town bars that I've been to, tend to only pay attention to their regulars. I felt like a regular even though it was only the first time being there. Your establishment will definitely be frequented when we have tournaments in DeForest.

Can’t rate food as after an hour and a half we left. Bar tender was the worst I’ve ever experienced in food service. Her body language was all you needed to know you are not welcome and she is stressed. When asked what we were there for, we replied dinner and her reply was “it will be a while.” When asked what drink my wife wanted, my wife replied “Truly”, the bar tender said “you get whatever flavor I grab.” When we finally got our table for dinner, we saw the staff whispering about us and the waitress seemed off center when talking to us. So we left before order being taken. Oh, did I mention we saw the bar tender picking her nose and wiping her nose before making drinks and never once washing or using a towel or rag or anything other than her bare skin hand? Yeah, never again. Ever. Truly horrid experience. Unwelcoming, rude, unprofessional, unsanitary.

The Frog Pond has become our go-to for a consistently good Fish Fry and great burgers, We try to go every month for the burger of the month, which are always unique and an amazing deal at $7.50. This month was a "Benny Burger" - fresh hamburger patty, ham, fried egg, and Hollandaise. We weren't sure we would like it but it was delicious. If you haven't been here yet give it a try, it's truly a hidden gem for good food.

Some of the best Friday night fish you'll find in the area. We normally call for takeout. 20 minutes, you're good to go.
