This place pops up every New Glarus page as a recommendation but it is incredibly bad. We had eclairs today - planning to eat while walking around town. Bakers probably never had eclair in their lifetime. I am not sure if they put ice cream between doughs or the whole thing was frozen. The chocolate was too hard. The dough was not fresh. Ice cream/pastry cream was distasteful. My wife literally cried after eating this.
If it was ice cream, immediately change it to pastry cream. This is not how you make eclairs. If it was frozen, don't freeze and serve fresh food. Or AT LEAST TELL PEOPLE IT IS FROZEN SO WE DON'T BUY!!!! What a waste of money.

Small shop but everything is great! They use a lotta butter (take the Lactaid!), but it's SO good. Things that look soft might have a delicate crunch to bite through, they have delicate Euopean flavors (anise, peach, ginger), and the Pfeffernüsse is amazing (looks dense but is soft). The donut is a square denser wheat donut: it has a hearty chew-ability. My cousin loves the pumpernickel raisin bread - I send it to Oklahoma for her!

Lots of variety, but disappointed with freshness🙁
The bakery had plenty of items to choose from, and we purchased a wide variety—spritz cookies, sugar cookies, brownies, sandbissen cookies, and more. Everything looked appealing, and we were excited to try them once we made it back to the hotel.
Unfortunately, we were disappointed. The items didn’t seem fresh; most were dried out rather than moist as we expected. With such a great selection, we were hoping for a better experience.
I’m glad we gave it a try, but the freshness just wasn’t there for us.

We're looking for a place to have an afternoon bakery treat and a cup of coffee. We went in around 3:00 and there was almost nothing left in the case. What there was was very overpriced, there was nowhere to sit, and the girl behind the counter was extremely rude. It was like we were a big inconvenience for showing up.
I'll give no rating on the food because we didn't order anything. We would have glad they gotten our coffee in a pastry and just sat on the bench outside, but the girl behind the counter was so rude we just left.

Cute little bakery in downtown area. Prices were very reasonable. The cherry pastry left a greasy film on the roof of my mouth. Not sure what ingredient (shortening?) caused this but it was still very tasty. Good service.
