The hotel room itself was comfortable but that was the best part. The pool & hot tub was closed without any communication letting us know it was closed. There was never anyone at the front desk to help us check in or check out, or even give us serving utensils for the breakfast in the morning. I tried calling to talk to someone 12 times before our stay and never received a phone call back. Overall super disappointed and would not recommend, which is unfortunate because it could be a wonderful place to stay with the right management and appropriate amount of staff.

Hosted a 50th wedding anniversary party for my in-laws this past weekend and wish I could say it was a great experience. From the time we initially booked it was a constant struggle to have any communication with an event planner to actually make the plans. We had to deal with 3-4 different people and my husband was always the one to have to initiate any contact to find out what was going on and make sure plans were actually moving forward. I understand that there was some staff turnover but that would be up to management to ensure that events were still being handled. On the day of the party, there was no event planner on site. The only staff working our party was the caterer and 2 other bartenders. These ladies really busted their butts for us, but they definitely could have used more help. Maddie was amazing, she had so much on her plate but was always checking in to see what we needed. She definitely deserves a big raise for all she seems to do there. Another thing we noticed is that the Summer Salon has no tapper in the bar...the girls were having to lug pitchers of beer from down stairs and then they were left to sit on the bar...which made for a lot of warm beer that people weren't too enthused to drink. Seems that a simple solution to that would be to bring the keg upstairs and place it in a barrel of ice. Just sitting a bunch of pitchers on the bar to get warm seemed a bit ridiculous. We also had issues with members of our party not having rooms ready at check in time, or not having a room at all that they had already reserved in advance. My husband was running around all night trying to address these issues when he should have been enjoying the celebration for his parents. We had people that ended up having to leave early to drive home 2 hours because the room they booked was somehow no longer available. Having a manager or event planner on sight during the actual event would have been helpful. I dislike leaving a negative review, but for the price we paid, we expected more than what we got. The place has so much potential to be great, but I feel like there needs to be better management for that to happen. The staff that did show up there were great, and did the best they could with what they had available to them. Again, another big shout out to Maddie, who was wonderful to work with.

We didn’t get the room we were booked. All the ice machines were out we had to go to the front desk to get a very small bag for 6 people. Refrigerator hardly kept our food cold and the freezer would not even make ice. The hot tub was wasn’t working which I was told after our stay that it has been out all summer. The shower handle was broken so it took forever to giggle it around to get it to work. By the end of our stay we had to take cold showers and couldn’t even shut it off. We sat out on the pool patio and all flowers were completely dead with weeds knee high. On a positive note for how under staffed they were the employees were very nice and worked very hard. Sorry but for the money not worth it.

I’m writing this and I haven’t even checked into my room yet. We were told we could check in by 3. The hot tub is out of order, none of the ice machines are working in the hotel, the ice cream parlor is supposed to be open but is closed and the workers don’t know why. My 4 year old son simply touched a a display car in their entry way and a staff member made it a point to come tell him it wasn’t a toy. This could have been avoided if rooms were available at the posted check in time. We got food in their sports bar, don’t recommend the chicken wings, they are microwaved. The pro shop for the golf course is not open, it is ran through the front desk or sports bar. I do not recommend this place until they get some things under control. Hope to have a room soon.

My husband and I stopped in the Boundary Waters bar/restaurant for dinner Saturday, August 10. We have a vacation cabin near The Four Seasons and stop frequently at The Lounge bar and Boundary Waters. We’ve always had good food and good service. Not this past Saturday. We both ordered the prime rib special, mine with mashed potatoes, his with French fries. It was horrible, truly bad. The prime rib was very dark brown, very dry and not hot. There was no wonderful juiciness or tenderness that I love about prime rib. My mashed potatoes were barely warm and the gravy congealed on top. My husbands French fries were good though. Honestly, this was the worst restaurant meal I have ever had. I am not exaggerating. I cannot believe they served something so truly bad. We sat at the bar and the servers truly looked embarrassed although the food quality is not their fault. We frequent The Four Seasons since our cabin is so close but we’re questioning if we will ever go back.

We will be returning! My boyfriend and I stayed here the weekend of July 26th and we were skeptical because of the mixed reviews. Arrival was busy which we expected but lobby is really nice with an old time car on display. There was a younger guy working the front desk and you could tell he was newer but he was very polite. He gave us a map of the hotel and if it’s your first time it is a little confusing but it’s easy to figure out. Our room was on the 3rd and it was a lot bigger than we expected a little outdated but nice. There was a little lounge area when you first walk in with a couch, TV, eating area, mini fridge, microwave and small sink. Then they had 2 closets with extra pillows, blankets and a safe. The beds were comfortable and we had a balcony with small patio set. Also had an outlet outside which was nice! Friday night we made a reservation at the 1905 Steakhouse and we did have to wait a little bit but there was only one waitress (Bianca) and she was serving 4 tables including a bigger party of 5+ so we understood and we weren’t in any rush. When we got seated we let her know she was doing a great job and we understand and to take her time. She was very appreciative. We had the seafood chowder soup which was AMAZING and shrimp Cajun Cavatappi which was delicious. Bianca was a rockstar! We golfed on Saturday morning and we had so much fun golfing and I’m not a big golfer so I was happy with the golf course. I got a 60 minute massage in the spa with Michelle. It was my first professional massage and she made me feel very comfortable. The massage was so relaxing and felt amazing 10/10!! We also went fishing and didn’t really know a good spot and the staff us to ask a guy named Steve because he knew ALL the good fishing spots. He sent us about 10ish minutes away that was right over the Wisconsin Michigan boarder. We got there and didn’t fish that long because of the mosquitoes (we didn’t bring bug spray) but it was so beautiful to say the least. There was a guy there that said he had caught a lot of fish. Went to the ice cream parlor it was super cute old timing feeling! The downstairs bar had great food (pizza, bbq sandwich and burgers) and the staff were also amazing Seth, Maddie, I believe Lydia (she was working Saturday during the day) and also another woman that I believe worked the closing shift Saturday night. I did also have a drink in the Lounge bar upstairs and Danielle was great! We did also got to talk with a woman named Zibbie and she was so nice very informative. For being short staffed all the staff members did an amazing job! There is a lot to see and do at the resort that we wish we had more time for. We definitely will be returning and hopefully get to do more!

We got a special coupon for a great price at this wonderful, old but renovated resort in northern Wisconsin and arrived in the afternoon. After settling in and looking around, we had an early dinner in the Diamond Room. As it happens, we were the only ones in the restaurant and had a wonderful dining experience served by wonderful Tiffany, by the fireplace. We had delicious Wisconsin Old Fashioned cocktails and a wonderful sourdough bread followed by wonderful fresh salads and then huge steaks, cooked to perfection and served with garlic potatoes. It was quite romantic as the view was of the island itself, surrounded by the Menominee River. Due to our November 1st visit, we are between seasons and we ended up being alone in the hotel, or so it seemed. It could not have been more wonderful.

We came to eat on a Monday night and were hoping to eat in the Diamond room, but we couldnt find anyone to seat us. Not a soul....so we went down to the bar and ate after again, a long wait for someone to arrive. The food down there was good. We decided to go up for some ice cream at the parlor, but alas, no one there to help us. When we finally got someone they said the manager was not there and so they couldnt open the parlor up. We decided to grab some dessert in the Diamond room now that we saw a waitress there. She seated us and took our order. Coffee was lukewarm and old, which she made a fresh pot after we told her. Lava cake was bland at best. Charming atmosphere and beautiful facility, but lacking in customer service and consistency. Not sure if we'll try it again.

We travel to the UP to our cabin from a western suburb of Milwaukee ,multiple times throughout the year and were very pleased that the resort had opened again. We enjoy the beautiful sports bar with pool table, and have eaten there and always enjoyed the food. We were there Monday and ate in the dining room, and were both pleased and disappointed. The soup was excellent, salad was good, and the meals we had were very good. The potatoes though were barely warm along with the broccoli, but main entre very good. We were surprised that we did not get any dinner bread or relish tray with the meal though. We thought the prices in the fine dining room were reasonable But we’re shocked that there was only one other table eating around the 6:00 hour. The sunroom we ate in was musty smelling....hopefully they can remedy this. The grounds are amazing and we really LOVE the place! I hope the new owners can make it work. We WILL return to this place.

We stopped by Lillie's after we had lunch in the nearby Plaza Room. It is a very cute retro ice cream/soda shop serving cones, sundaes, brownies and the like. We had single vanilla ice cream cake cone (3.50) and a double chocolate/lemon bar ice cream waffle cone (5.00). There is both inside and outside closed porch seating. There is a pinball room nearby if the kids want more to do inside. A nice stop if you are on a scenic north woods drive, or as a destination in itself!
