Wow. Sat at the bar and ordered a pop. The thin, short haired older lady gave me a can and when I asked for it in a glass with a straw she got mad. She said “Christ you’re needy, I’m trying to cut these lemons!” Then she throws a straw at me. Lol. Kind of funny but man she was nasty.

Atmosphere is great. The food is good, but it took over 40 minutes from the time we ordered, to the time we got the food. So, don't go here if you are in a hurry.

Wheelchair accessibility: The main entrance has stairs - so, if you have mobility issues, you would have to go through the main hotel entrance and take the elevator.

We were excited to try the spot while we were visiting the area. But the service was absolutely terrible. After being told we could sit wherever we wanted. We picked a table and then nobody came to check on us for at least 10 minutes. Our food and drinks did arrive promptly, however, the salad came with no salad dressing and I had to ask for it. Then when we were about done with our meal, we decided to move tables because the sun was coming around, we waited for somebody to come and check on us to let them know that we wanted to move tables, nobody came to check on us. So myself and my child moved to a different table while my husband waited for somebody to come around. He waited there for another 10 minutes with nobody checking on him. So I went to the bar and let the bartender know that we had moved and ordered two drinks and also asked for the check because we figured nobody would come and check on us over there either, which was true. When my husband went up to the bar to pay (bc no one came to our table to take it). They didn't even know that we had moved and assumed we left. We have NEVER not tipped, but this was inexcusable. We were there around 430pm and the place was maybe 25% full and there were multiple ppl working.

The food here is cold and bland. I'm sure it'd be fun for drinking and listening to live music with the doors open but certainly don't come here for a meal alone. Flavorless and cold. Very overrated.

Food was good. Average. Atmosphere was lovely. Right on the river. Very busy place. We were there on Sunday afternoon. Long long wait for food. We were there and waited an hour and a half (no exaggeration) from the time we ordered until we received our food. Wait staff was great. Would like to go back. We will see how the wait looks when we arrive if we go back.

I've been coming here from Iowa City 2-3 times a year since they opened. Brian and his staff are always so friendly and the atmosphere is fantastic. The food never disappoints. I highly recommend it for an enjoyable afternoon.

We were out on a late summer cycle ride. The Backwater was a random stop for a late lunch. Great atmosphere, friendly competent staff, and very good food. We will be back.
