Stopped in on a quiet Tuesday evening at the end of October and had a great “American food” supper. Started off with some lava hot deep fried cheese curds, and enjoyed a fish sandwich and fries. The food was great as was the friendly service.Stop by if you are looking for a classic Wisconsin bar with a great view of the Mississippi River.NOTE: while I didn’t have the bluegills this time, I’ve had them before and they’re great, it’s something you don’t find everywhere.

We have been to this bar/grill many times. I'm so disappointed tonight. Our server had only one table in the 1 hr and 40 mins we were there. They were not busy, there were some people at the bar rail and just 3 other tables. After finally ordering, 1 of 3 appetizers was delivered to the table as an appetizer. The rest came with the meal. The customer that had ordered the special, was told it was no longer available. A table that arrives about 30 min after us, had received the special that we were told was unavailable. After an hour of waiting for our food (which were fried foods...) we asked staff about our food. We asked a different staff and was told "it's on, 10 mins tops." We waited another 20 minutes. We had to ask our server again for a pop when the food arrived, something that was ordered when our server first asked. We also tried to order more drinks at the bar and didn't get any service. We even observed a customer finish cleaning off a table to sit down. I don't know if they were short staffed in the kitchen... but that was the worst service and length of time for FRIED bar food.

First time visit at Crooked Oar and sure won't be the last. Outside appearance blends with the country side. Inside caught us off guard. Huge spacious bar/grill. Very clean and neat. Nice crowd socializing. Open 7 days aweek year round - 11 till closing.Staff friendly and accommodating. Shout out to Mel who made us feel welcomed. Kudos to Kathy the bartender who blended the perfect margarita! And compliments to Wendy, the chef, who prepared the special of the day: reuben sliders and sweet corn nuggets. Plated to perfection and absolutely delicious. Thanks to everyone for our enjoyable meal.Dennis Kluesner - Joyce Gibbs (author)

Wait time unbelievable ( 1 hour 20 minutes)! Went at 8:00! At first told 15 minutes then changed the wait time when our drinks arrived.Charged me .95 for ice in my drink. WON’T BE BACK!!! Three others in group did not get charged for ice!! How cheap can you get!!

Sat at the bar waiting for service. Eventually we were the ONLY people sitting at the bar and were ignored. Happy to spend my money down the road.

Get carry outs mostly from here. Lately our orders have been messed up by the kitchen staff. What was once very good is now fairly consistently bad. Twice now I have had to go back to pick up forgotten items that were to have been included with out meals. The latest, they forgot a coleslaw, a hashbrown, and only 2 pieces of fish for an all you can eat Friday fish fry. Other places include more fish for to go orders on all you can eat nights and The Oar doesn't. The hasbrowns tonight were more like bad Ramen noodles than potatoes. Very dry and so chewy my dog would have had a hard time swallowing. Fish was just OK and not like it was several months ago. Sorry guys, you need to do better.
