🌮La Mexicana is one of my favorite taco spots in Racine!
I’ve been coming to this place for a few years now and it never disappoints.
Tucked in the back of the store is a small restaurant with a full menu and let me tell you… their tacos are everything.
They are always fresh, full of flavor and served with grilled onions and a roasted pepper on the side which I love.
Honestly, they are definitely top three when it comes to tacos in Racine.
What makes the spot even more special is how much more it offers beyond the restaurant.
They are actually a small grocery/corner store as well. In addition to having a small restaurant in the back they are also a little paleteria (ice cream shop) so you can grab a refreshing popsicle or ice cream (perfect after a taco) and if you’re in the mood for street corn they have those too (also one of the best in Racine).
Whether I’m swinging by for a quick taco or elote fix or picking up a mangonada from their little paleteria window… I always leave happy.
Friendly service, great food, and the authentic welcoming vibe keeps me coming back. Highly recommend!

I came across this place on my way to a nearby boat yard, and decided to Stop in. I’m so glad I did! Delicious tacos Al Pastor that came with grilled onions a nice touch for 2.99 each or four for $11. Very juicy and flavorful. This will be my go to place when working on the boat. I saw that they had Mexican ice cream, flan and Mangonadas. Next time, I will try another Dish
Authentic flavor food.
They never have consistent prices
I cannot recommend enough. Everything Ive
tried on the menu so far has been nothing less than amazing each time. That alongside a wonderful staff and stellar service, this is a hidden gem. Make sure to get the elotes with your order!

I just ordered some steak tacos and they barely put a teaspoon of meat on each one. So disappointed, but I guess that’s what you get out of a ran down hole in the wall.

The store and the taqueria are small, the prices are affordable but I am talking about myself. For my taste the food is not that bad but it is not good either, you say it was good I will go back we ordered burrito tacos and gorditas the tacos were OK but there are places where they really make you want to come back and eat those tacos here not the gorditas were very very small very small the burritos were good but just like the tacos it's not like I want to go back to eat them they don't serve you like in a taqueria
It's just a lady who cooks, it takes a while so she doesn't have good service. We only took a napkin each and well, of course, but as I say, there is a difference between tastes and tastes. Also, the staff wasn't bad, the food wasn't bad either. Good enough to return, I say it is my humble opinion without offending anyone.
Parking: You have to park on the avenue in front of the store where only three cars can park and the other parking lot you have to cross a street and there is their parking lot but it is not safe
Wheelchair accessibility: There is no ramp for people with wheelchairs

Ordered over 50$ in tacos and asked for them to be lightly fried and they were not, the shells were like Doritos and my little one couldn’t eat them without ripping them open and saving the softer part of the shell, which was were the meat sat. I’m not sure what had changed but I won’t be ordering from there again, and that was my place to go anytime I wanted tacos. Never again, don’t order unless you can afford the dental repairs.

I have been looking for this place since the first time I had it, three years ago. Needless to say, I was super excited to have found it. Well I wish I didn't. I was beyond upset when I opened up my tacos. They were everywhere in the box, it looked like a salad with shells. I thought no big deal, I can just make them myself. So I did. Now the meat was super dry. The only good thing was the corn. I do not suggest this place. It wasn't worth the money. Spend money on the corn, corn was delicious. Service was okay. Overall. I do not recommend.

The tacos here are great, I'm just wondering if they do the trays of 20 tacos for $20 on Tuesdays like la tapatia does?
