Just tried this place for the first time. Wow. Nice little spot. What I expected a "shanty" resturant to look like inside lol. Friendly people working. Cuban was on point. Parm fries on point. Coleslaw delicious. I'll be bringing my husband back to try.

The food used to be much better but $17 for a small sandwich and a small thing of decent soup is not worth it at all.

Good soups and good sandwiches. Service is always very prompt and friendly. Nice place to have around. Cure facility. Crappy gravel parking

Stopped in for a gift certificate and it was hand written and put in a ledger like most small businesses do. The service was friendly. The place was completely empty and I saw no signs of cooking but there was a strong odor of cooking oil. Google maps said to enter the parking lot for Douglas Ave which I don't think is possible.

Service with a smile is a saying for a reason. Rather than handle a discrepancy they argue and discredit rather than try to smooth things over and make for peace. I can only assume the owner was dodging the situation as she was never available. If your job entails ladling soup day in and day out do it with joy. If you can endure workers attitude, you can enjoy a decent cup of soup. Other food adequate. George Webb down the road.

Soup is saving grace to this establishment. A tad too pricey. Atmosphere nothing to write home about. Service appalling. Staff rude and no sense of professionalism, they lack common decency in their dealings. Go elsewhere for your food. Remember that a little goes a long way with the customer. Treat them as family not as the enemy. And you get more bees with honey rather than vinegar ?

Never had a bad meal here. The Italian beef is amazing and the BLTT never disappoints.

Terrible service. She laughed at me when I asked a question about her menu.

Soup Shanty is a customer favorite for many in this locale. And for good reason they have tasty soups with the claim to fame being all homemade! It's a nice treat here and there for sure. My hot cabbage soup unfortunately leaked out spilling all over my car seat! So much disappointment on two levels, no food which I was really looking forward to and now my car is a disaster! I called in the moment hoping for understanding, perhaps an apology, some accountability and compensation in someway! I got none of that just an earful of defensive words spewing in my direction. We've all been in the situation as a customer. Meet me in the middle. Something small goes a long way with the customer. Service with a smile. As a proprietor would an extra bowl of soup really have caused a dent in their finances? What would be the harm in fulfilling this one request? Was it a matter of sticking it to me the customer; how dare she have the audacity to ask this of us? I was told the owners were not present and once it leaves it's essentially not their responsibility. This is the dictionary definition if you will of poor customer service. It is the customers who make for a business. I enjoyed it, twas a good run, but I will not be returning sadly.

This is one of my favorite locally owned places for lunch. They have a great daily assortment of soups and specials, all of which are made from scratch. I have tried many of their soups and have yet to be disappointed--they're all delicious! My absolute favorite menu item is their jalapeño popper grilled cheese. They make it with several different cheeses, including a homemade jalapeño cream cheese spread that is to die for. It's absolutely delicious. They have both dine in and carry out options in a quaint building with seasonal outdoor space. You can call ahead for pick up, which is always timely. Staff is always friendly. I will continue to support this wonderful local business.
