What an amazing place! Cozy booth seating in the front room, old-fashioned decorations everywhere. The salad bar has delicious pickled german vegetables, and the broasted chicken entree was better than what you get from big chicken chain restaurants! Also, LGBT-friendly!

Awesome authentic German buffet on the last weekend of the month. All the food was delicious. Salad bar was included and full salad bar with soup, cheese spred, mixed salads, and great greens with various veggies. Love this place, worth the 30 minute drive from Madison.

We just had a last minute audible on where to go for supper and Feil's was someplace we had never been before so we went. Atmosphere was great, staff was excellent and food was good. Salad bar had a great variety of choices. We will be back on Wednesday or Saturday because I want to try the prime rib! I recommend you get the Herb's choice streak with the haystack of onion straws...it was great! (The haystack is HUGE!) We will be back again.

We stopped for dinner on Saturday, for the first time. The salad bar was amazing. My husband had the beef tips with mashed potatoes. I had the prime rib. Everything was done to perfection! We'll definitely be back. I love to cook German food, so I'm looking forward to trying their German food. Great find!!

The food was subpar at best, forgetting the sauce on the salmon someone in our party ordered. The rest of the food seemed luke warm and just tasted okay.
To top it all off, we were here for a birthday dinner. Our waiter brought a cupcake which was a nice gesture, however it had HORSERADISH instead frosting, we all tried it thinking we were going crazy!! No apology, just said he just have accidentally put it on because it’s right next to the frosting in back… It did make for a memorable birthday dinner though.

Feil's has the feeling of what was probably a very nice successful Wisconsin Supper Club. Unfortunately now is just a ghost of it's past. Sad really.
I tried their German buffet a few years ago and was very disappointed. Last night I thought I'd give it a second try for Friday fish fry. The near empty parking lot at 7:00 pm should have been the warning sign.
The first room you enter is the bar which is very large and has an interesting layout. It was also nearly empty at 7 pm. We were told we had to wait for a table in the mostly empty dining rooms.
The Wisconsin Old Fashion at the bar was very good. Not muddled, but fresh and not a mix from a bottle.
The dining room is sad. Vinyl covered tables set close together. And although nearly empty, sat us right against one of the few occupied tables.
They are apparently known for their loaves of bread. Choice between white and onion rye. Chose the rye, which did not taste of rye or onion. It tasted like molasses. Not good.
Salad bar is large and has a good number of pasta and other salads. Unfortunately the fresh lettuce was not fresh but had many brown and wilted pieces of romaine. The spinach was better.
Had the fish fry special. Coating on the fish was hard and tasteless. Ordered potato pancakes for the side. Also tasteless.
Our server was very attentive and pleasant. Really the only positive other than the Old Fashion at the bar.
I'm sorry Feil's, but will not be back for another try. Perhaps they should close and retool to get their mojo back.

First time visiting Feil's, well worth the drive from Madison. Had a young man as our waiter and he did a wonderful job, as more people came in the dining room he step up and had everything under control. Food was delicious and the old fashions tasted great. Thanks for a wonderful evening.

The restaurant was clean, had a unique feel & the bar had plenty of seating. The salad bar had a great variety. My prime rib dinner was the best I have had in a long time. The prices were in line with today's economy. The homemade bread was delicious & the after dinner drink was small, but hit the spot.
