Thanksgiving dinner. They had a wonderful atmosphere, great food and service. Food was a tad over salted, but all in all, very good.

We visited the area after about 20 years and were excited to eat at the Whitetail Inn restraint. What a complete disappointment it was.
Two of us ordered the Whiskey Shrimp. The sauce was horrible and the shrimp was WAY overcooked and had no flavor at all. The shrimp were swimming in the watery sauce, more like was a soup. I've thrown away better food than this.
My aunt ordered the Mediterranean Haddock. It was horrible as well. Also like a soup. It was very sour and was difficult to eat. She left half the plate. She couldn't stomach it.
My dad had the Pan Seared Salmon. He said it was just OK.
I asked for and received a soda. Never saw the waiter at out table till we were just about finished. The soda was flat. I asked the waiter if he could check on the carbonation. I was never asked for a refill. Finally I asked him if he checked on it, like a hint for a refill. He said he forgot. So I asked for a refill. He said he would bring it and not charge me for it. When I got the bill, the soda was on it. I guess they charge for every glass and the second one was at no charge. Seems a bit strange that they would charge for each glass. I've never seen that before at any restaurant.
We still left a 20% tip, but should have left a just a penny.
We are here a out 20 years ago and it was a great experience all around. DEFINATLY not this time.
My advice would be to come in, look around and then just leave.

Don't sleep on the Whitetail Inn!! We almost didn't go because of some of the bad reviews here, but I'm sure thankful we didn't let those stop us. We had the most amazing dinner! Pre-dinner cocktails and then started with the bacon wrapped chestnuts with a cherry sauce...killer appetizer!! I had the King prime rib, which was supposed to be 16 oz, but I swear it was easily 24 to 28 ounces. It was cooked to perfection and the au jus was seasoned very well. I brought more home than I could possibly eat there. My wife had the Mediterranean Haddock and she still cannot express how yummy it was. We finished with a couple of after dinner cocktails at the bar. Overall a FABULOUS evening!!

This is not the correct menu. Prices are much higher in the restaurant and not the same choices. We checked the menu before we went and were disappointed.

Food was overcooked and cold by the time we got it. Everything tasted like it had been cooked hours before and left under a heat lamp.

Amazing food, great service, awesome drinks… what great night!
This was THE worst service we have had for as long as we can remember. We were there for over 1.5 hours before we were served (after complaining twice about the very slow service) even with a reservation. When bringing our concerns to the waitress’s and bartender’s attention they were defensive, rude and disrespectful. We were about to get up to leave when our food finally arrived…only to be less than appetizing. Kid’s hamburgers had buns that were literally solid from being under the heat lamp for so long they couldn’t even bite into it. Kid’s corn dogs were burnt to black (embarrassing to even put on the table). The rest of us had fish fry which was also unappetizing and disappointing. Also, the bartender told me he would give us “a big, big discount”. They only gave us a 20% discount. More than 20% of our food was inedible. We will not be revisiting this venue again. I was embarrassed for them. Please save yourselves the trouble and DO NOT GO HERE.
Mother’s Day brunch was terrible. Been going for the last 4 years. Won’t be returning. So disappointing. Waited in line for them to bring plates & food out; everything was empty or cold. Way less food options than previous years.

Their fillet cooked medium rare is unbelievable ❤️
The place is lovely, the service was slow, slow, slow and the kitchen totally dropped the ball. The appetizer came out cool and four out of four meals were not good. The fish was old and over cooked, the medium rare prime rib was bloody and room temperature, the chicken was o.k. but the vegetables on the plate were cold and the French dip arrived without the dip. Not a good birthday celebration.
Beautiful restaurant with excellent food and service. Thank you Angie and Dan for the excellent service. Highly recommend!
Yall I can’t stand beer batter fish and this had to be the best beer batter fish I’ve ever had in my life! YUM
this used to be a great establishment but it seems the owners care more about money than running a good bussiness. greedy out of town folks shouldn't own bussiness up here. it's killing the northwoods
